Given the kind of things the boards post, I hope they never do.

The second they ever do, that will be the actual death of the game.

Also, something you seemingly missed in that same article: League is still in the number 3 spot.

He didn't necessarily mean boards users - just player feedback in general.

It could be from someone like Scarra or something.

Bro you dont gotta defend Riot all the time just because youre a mod. Everyone knows balance team sucks this season. League is in number 3 spot for top grossing pc game because its been out for 8 years and has been very popular for a about 3-4 of those years. That doesnt mean League is top 3 this year, that means overall.

Dropped 2 spots from 1#. also no need to ask the boards. ask any pro player for balance tips/ high elo competent player/stream? but of course riot do know best right? so buff damage more.... geez.

Well actually they need to start listening to the people who have good insight into League's problems.

Because right now, Riot and the balance team is already causing the death of the game, slowly, with each blatantly horrible balance choice.

ModWulf Helhammer3 votes

Proof.

And just because you don’t like something, doesn’t mean no one else can.

Boards have a habit of making an echo chamber, making it seem like everyone who plays the games hates it right now. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

All the people that still like the game don’t have a reason to complain, they’re just out enjoying playing.

For every change that you hate, there’s another player who loves it.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

You're a mod. I'm quite surprised that you literally don't SEE all the posts of people crying out about the balance of the game, and Riot's really horrible balance choices this year.

There are hundreds of people complaining and hate the game right now.

And no. More than not, the majority of the changes people hate than love it.

Disembark3 votes

Yeah... on the BOARDS. Do you realize how insignificant the NA boards are to Riot?

You realize they have hundreds of millions of players in China? People on boards are so fucking entitled it hurts. “I hate X, nerf it!” “Their playerbase? Who gives a fuck, only I matter”.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Not everyone on here is like that. They created the boards for feedback, so it's about time they listen more to it, like I said above- listening to the players who have good insight, not the crybabies.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

Proof for your last statement.

And I do see the posts. I recognize that people may not like changes (there’s been plenty I haven’t liked over the years). I just recognize that those complaints are merely a fraction, and that not everyone shares those same sentiments.

You can’t please everyone. There’s going to be people that are unhappy, and there’s nothing you can do for everyone.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Go read the top posts of the boards. There's your proof.

The majority, from what I see, are UNHAPPY. Not just a "fraction." Literally every day people post out how shitty the game has become and the very questionable balance decisions that Riot makes and continues to keep making just proves even further that Riot literally listens to no one.

[zombie-brand-facepalm]

ModWulf Helhammer3 votes

Again with your same problem of thinking the boards is any semblance of a majority. It isn’t.

It’s not even a minority.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

The boards is a majority. But people outside the boards are unhappy as well.

Maybe if all you mods get off Riot's high horse you would see it as well.

Dope Solo1 votes

Another player that loves it...just not as many.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

What are you even trying to say?

I would take it you would understand that my statement doesn’t apply to solely you. There’s an opposite to every reaction and opinion, for everyone.

Just make a questionnaire about "Do you enjoy League?" that is open to everybody and can be seen by everybody. From what I can see nobody enjoys it. Whenever I join a lobby I feel united with other players, because they hate the current state of the game the same way that I do and I didn't meet a single person in this season that enjoys the game. They were just "ok" bc they won. Also none of my friends enjoy it and they are not old players like me. They are young. When a 12 y/o doesn't enjoy a game then something is seriously wrong with that game.

Dope Solo3 votes

That's a really low quality post and response. What "kind of things" are you talking about? I notice the same feedback getting posted over and over and its been ignored, its no wonder the game is in decline when players leave. Whether the game is #3, 1 or whatever, its still down about a quarter in terms of revenue. Maybe NOW is the time to balance around a resurgence.

Down to 2014 levels, even. That's four seasons of growth wiped out.

CIayman5 votes

Every year since 2014 has been league's worst year since 2014

The game peaked at seasons 4 and 5

Every game will inevitably decline after its peak

Also no game can grow forever.

If you mean the Trash Boards feedback I hope not.

JoeAnarchy3 votes

it's just because of the slew of games that were released this year.. and of course WoW's amazing new expansion rebreathing new life into that game, causing alot of old players to reactivate their accounts, which means less money for league. along with Fortnite launching and blowing up, the newest monster hunter. etc. League is an E-sport, so it's not going anywhere.. it's like saying "football is gonna die soon. baseball is gonna die soon" it wont happen..

Disembark3 votes

Riots been listening to Reddit and boards this whole fucking season lmao. This is why this game is turning to trash. Silver players are dictating its balance.

SnugglePuggle942 votes

No it is not. Do silver players ask for Sejauni nerfs right before worlds? Did silver players ask for Runes Reforged? Did they ask for every horrible decision Riot has made?

No. More often than not, most players are against all the choices they've made. The game is turning into trash because of Riot and Riot only.

They also didn't ask for League of Ardent Censer last year (which got buffed something like six fucking times, I'm too lazy to go back and reread the patch notes that mention it) and ADC unviability for most of this season (has that improved yet, btw?)

SnugglePuggle941 votes

We never asked for those. Riot kept it that way because of the LCS and how it was making them money with flashy plays.

ModWulf Helhammer2 votes

Are you kidding me?

For years people were clamoring for more impactful support items. Riot made that in Ardent Censor, and had to keep buffing it because no one realized its power till pros started using it.

Adc unviability? Where were you for the last year? The boards were full of people making uneducated and hyperbolic statements about how ADCs were sooo overpowered, and that they should be practically non existent because they had been a played class for so long. You still see them whenever someone says something about buffing or just fixing ADCs.

Faster games, assassin and fighters being stronger, less jungle impact, all of these things were changes demanded for.

Dope Solo1 votes

It is possible to have gone overboard on the changes. Especially on the assassin fighter changes now that you mention them specifically. They should probably start at 1/2 or 1/4 steps compared to what they've been doing.

They asked for that when they complained so much that assassins all got reworked(nerfed) into champions that had to stand still and wait for their damage and when people felt that support had no agency so they wanted more interaaction and riot thought the best way was through stronger items than thier kits so you wouldnt have something like machine gun lulu running in other lanes causing problems.

King Lego2 votes

My only argument about Riot listening to the community and not just pros is by listening to how constructive they are. No matter what elo even. Just give out a statement, support it, give proofs, bias-free, etc etc etc and that's what Riot should do.

They are making changes that even a facepalm is not enough.
