A rare "good job" from me to Riot

So last night I started playing again after a year-long hiatus. When I quit in season 6, I thought Riot was making the worst possible decisions in an attempt to move the game forward, and as a result, it felt more and more like AIDS to play over time to the point where I went from playing multiple games every day, to one or two every week, if that. It was only "fun" if I was with a 4-5 man stack of friends while being intoxicated, and eventually even that didn't help. I know that it wasn't "burnout" - I know what that feels like. This gave me WoW flashbacks where the game i used to love was being destroyed by the irrational stupidity and swollen egos of devs who evidently no longer gave a shit, and where you could assume burnout was actually rage and contempt for those in charge of the horrific decisions.

I've been keeping up with everything in my off time; the meta, the strong picks, builds, team comps, matchups, etc. just so when League actually looked like it was worth playing again, there would be no sense of future shock coming back. That payed off last night since one of my buddies is in the military and I wanted to get a game or two in before he left again (whenever that is) with some other friends. I have to say, there has been noticeable progress since season 6 ruined everything that could be seen without even playing, but after actually playing last night, while it still feels a lot like season 6 in some aspects, playing doesn't make me want to lobotomize myself with a drill now - only when Yasuo or Kalista is in the game.

It might be hard to believe coming from me, who has been complaining on the forums all this time about how terrible the direction is with obvious solutions to problems, but yeah, I don't think League is shit anymore. Riot still has a ton of work to do to clean the mess they've made, but I see progress in the right direction for once instead of the year and a half straight of facepalming every time I saw they were going to add or change something.

So yeah, good job Riot; I'm looking forward to the tank update. If you're not going to address mobility creep, power creep, the damage keystones have done, problem champions, or stop with this insanity of pushing for League to be "a global sport that lasts generations" when it's a game first and not a sport, then maybe this update (provided it's done right) along with 10 bans will make League enjoyable again instead of just tolerable.

Keep up the good work and make League great again.

Last season wasn't even that bad. I would argue that the start of every season is bad, but come the mid season update, it generally gets much better. Last season the game felt a lot more solid after patch 6.9, so I would imagine that the game is only going to get better. I mean, from my own personal perspective the start of this season was awful, just like the start of every season, but the further we get in, the overall better the game gets.

About two weeks ago i changed my server from Turkey to EUW and boy the difference in game quality is HUGE. Match-making is significantly better, I have only encountered three or four annoying players in the 20+ games I've had (I don't have to mute /all now yay!) and even in games where i fed no one flamed me! So My faith in LoL is restored again.
