Why am I fighting high Elo players when my team is me and four low Elo players?

I was silver 3 when the season ended I have yet to play ranked because the meta sucks and I don't play any of the OPs. But when I play normal I'm massively out classed and then on top of that I have one or two low bronzes that just are convinced they can 1v5. I end up getting killed more often then not because they want to wait till the last second to use any skills so they can get the kill.

Did I screw my match making somehow by not playing ranked yet?

Normal mmr functions seperately from ranked mmr. Those high elo players probably dont play alot if norms. As a result, they are placed in a lower elo than they should be in untill the sustem can realize their skill level
