But they are supposed to be traps. Shaco's escape are literally his boxes, he sets up his escape path with them and then goes in for their backline, after success/fail he retreats to the path set up with boxes. His dueling is bad and most of his jungle competition outtrades him so in order to not get bullied out of jungle and be able to counterjungle he sets areas where he can make up for these weaknesses with area control. Area control is intended and he relies on it in his playstyle not to mention that is probably one of the most unique things about him in entire Assassin roster. With 10 seconds duration he won't make any use of it.
Nuh uh. Shaco is an assassin, his boxes should be used in his combat pattern. Maybe he does get zone control, but it shouldn't be godly zone control, and it shouldn't be an unavoidable
Also entire laning of AP Shaco which is approved playstyle relies on zoning with them and setting up traps in which he lures/enemy facechecks into, even if you were to make them bombs they would still function as a zoning tool.
Yeah but not as much... Shaco shouldn't be setting them up and denying, he should be going in and plopping down and zoning people that way, but with counterplay as the range and CC is way too strong to not have a way to stop it.
Boxes as escapes doesn't work either, since that is exactly when people activate their scanners.
If his dueling is bad, it should be buffed. Specifically, his passive crit damage/cooldown, since there's counterplay to that.
Why not though? Hunting traps irl as are placed nearly as random as Shaco does in game and they are still traps, just by going into them you got goofed (though currently to really be goofed they are not telegraphed, in order to do so maybe they should "show" themselves by sound like certain laugh, enemy knows that they are near but not exactly where and Shaco can use it as a part of his mindgame). He does that to surprise his opponents or to create areas where he can gain advantage in trades.
Because Shaco's boxes shouldn't be trap, traps. They're waaay too strong alone for that.
Look at the other traps. Cait's does nothing if she isn't there to follow up. Nid's tickles you. Jhin's is easily avoidable. Only Teemo's actually punishes you for stepping on them when he isn't around, and Teemo needs a rework anyway.
Shaco should interact with his traps. He should set them up to purposefully bait you into them, and then fuck you over when you walk into it.
The WORST feeling in the game is to walk into a random trap in a random spot in the river and get feared and shot at for however long that thing lasts. Outta nowhere. It doesn't help him in trades, it surprises opponents but it's the boring sort of surprise where there's no follow up.
