@ Xypherous : thoughts on DoT/sustained damage mages
Hello, no PBE account, but I wanted to say a few words about the mage items rework.
What are the penetration/tank shredding options available to DoT mages? I understand the "Phase 1" of the item rework wanted to focus more on the resources aspect, but I sure hope there will be a phase 2 regarding the offensive stats.
Liandry is a strange item with %HP shred (good against health stacking), flat pen (good against squishies) and HP (defensive stats). What's its intended purpose, what role does it fill, when you take the item system as a whole?
Void Staff feels like a general damage multiplier, similar to Rabadon, and not like a situational item against MR stacking. Is it intended? If yes, what DoT/sustained mages should do against Tanks? Are they intentionally weak against Tanks? If yes, it feels like more burst-oriented damage patterns would always be better.- Magic Pen as a whole lacks clarity. Looking at AD, flat-pen is supposed to be for Assassins vs Squishies, %pen for ADC vs Tanks. On the AP side, Abyssal looks like an item for burst/assassins (flat-pen in a medium/short range) but it has plenty of defensive stats they don't really want, Void Staff and Liandry are in a strange place too, and Sorc shoes are just a staple. Everyone build them, so you do it too if you don't want to fall off the damage race.
So all in all, I think the item system should provide a more consistent and clear picture of what penetration should do, on what items, etc. Can you elaborate on that?
Thanks ;)
Works exceptionally well on DoT champions like ryze who, sadly, have to get up close and personal. Just like most of the AoE items i.e
. Their range of effectivness is not that far, so with DoT items like
etc. Every champion can be a burst champion if you have the right items.
is a good example of burst and DoT.
