How to lane against annie mid?

I'm not the best laner, however I just legitimately cannot play lux against an Annie.

Lux is SUPPOSED to counter Annie, apparently everyone says that, however I just can't seem to do it.

I do the right thing by trying to apply lots of pressure and push them out of lane pre-6, however post 6, I've played two games against Annies. Regardless of the range I try to keep, both of them flash ult me and I get one-shot.

If the Annie is just holding their fourth spell, I'm actually just zoned all the way to my turret. She can chase me as much as I want. I can't hit a max range bind. That's just not easy to hit, and easy for her to dodge. If I get in range to do a lot of things, in fact, that puts her in range of a flash ult. And then I'm oneshot... So I just really have a hard time doing anything... Either I just let her flash ult me so I can get back to laning as usual for five minutes.. or just sit under my tower.

Both Annies I played against just spammed flash. Partially my junglers' fault for not ganking while flash was perma down, but nevermind that... my lanes against Annies were basically just Am I 6? My flash is up? Ok, good. FLASHULT! Missed? Didn't kill her? No problem, try again in 5 minutes.

One of them built a damn abyssals too.... Basically turned her into a midlane tank. I'm fine with having a farm under tower lane or just a play-safe lane, but this matchup is just absolutely unplayable for me. I don't know how people say this is a lux advantage. I cannot play into this for some reason.

Your E poke by itself does nothing in lane. You need to proc your passive and thunderlords for it to actually negate healing. And trying to proc your passive is not a good idea.

Would appreciate advice... really cannot figure out how to play this lane. It's not even like a zed lane. With zed you can catch him with binds and he doesn't stun you and oneshot you....

Play Morgana. Watch her cry when she can't cc you (cuz black shield).

Lux has farther range you should be able to poke her from a distance...

Annie range is short

If you think shes gonna do flash ult ask your jungle for a gank .

Also a tip once annie uses her ult her damage isnt as good and shes easy to kill. After she ults attack her or get your teammates too

sigh don't listen to these bronzie tips. If you want to beat annie this is what u do

Lux ult is shorter than annies ult. When annie is charged for a stun there is a circle around her and if she moves up move back. Try to launch ur Q and if u do complete with the full combo include the ULT even though you wont kill her. What this will do is make her play safe because of low HP and keep spamming E on her. Many annies won't stay charged for too long because CSing with Q refunds mana. Play around the stun

Im under the assumption you're low elo so don't expect your jungler to gank and do what i said above.

This is advice from a ex-diamond player before dynamic boost.

depending on who youre playing, perhaps just consider roaming until she pushes

I just shove that lane and literally walk away to gank or go back if she pushes with abilities and thus loses her stun

I think people say lux is good into annie because she has so much range that lux can farm and trade from beyond annies area of influence. that is the theory anyway and I think you understand that which is why you are frustrated because the match up still seems tough for you. anyway done stating the obvious :P play around her passive. when she has passive up stay beyond her flash ulti range. keep in mind that she wants to dump her spells on you when she has passive but she also wants to farm with her q so USUALLY you will find that if you stay out of her range for more than ten seconds or so while her passive is up they will use their Q, and also their passive stun, to last hit minions. And you can now get in close again.

If they are REALLY holding onto that passive to continually zone you off of cs. push the wave. this will be easy for lux because of her range. if youa re using your abilities on the wave she will not be able to keep up using only auto attacks so it will push towards her and she will NEED to use her abilites on the wave to prevent it from pushing into her tower. when she suses an ability her passive goes down and you can get closer again.

Skill shots can be hard to land expecially if you are so far away from her because it gives her time to react. look for times when she is going for cs either shoot a binding where she will be standing to get the cs OR shoot it after she has already started her auto attack or spell animation (there animations behave like self CC) OR look for times when she is creep blocked or if she is just not paying attention to the fact that your binding can go through a minion and into her.

You mentioned yourself that all annnie players flash+ulti all-in when they get six; most people would agree with this. When I play against an annie I expect them to do this every time. Even if they have not used any spells on me up to this point, I expect them to do this as soon as they get level six. so even if they haven't been trading with you up to then, you may want to consider getting a null magic mantle or the cloak thingy that gives 45 MR inpreparation for this.

However I must say I share your frustration with this. Annie is frustrating to play against because of the reliability by which she can perform this devastating AOE combo. And there are times especially if she is ahead of me that even if I build MR she can still 100-0 me. So there are times when I wonder if building MR is some situations is even worth it because either way I will die.

Another trick. use your superior spell ranges to cs and trade with her and if you need to get in closer to last hit because your abilities are on cooldown or whatever, do it when she doesn't have passive up AND use your shield as you walk up. Considering the entire time your shield is up, when it goes out and a couple seconds after it has returned, this gives you several seconds with a shield and annie will most likely not want to use her abilities on you if she knows that a significant portion of her damage will be negated by the shield. And if she does all-in you while you are shielded... well you will probably survive which is very good for you because she just used her ultimate on one person and didn't get a kill. now you have the upper hand for the next minute or so.

Also, play annie. learn her cooldowns. Know how long of a cooldown her ult has so you know how much time you have to exploit her after she uses it.

build rod of ages first.

easiest way not to die is to have too much health.

If you can't proc Thunderlord's, don't take it. I made this comment earlier and it somehow got deleted, so I am making it again. Your response was "Lux takes Thunderlord's". Well that's a nonsensical response if you can't proc it. It is literally a waste of a mastery if that is true. So if you can't proc it, take something that you can proc. Deathfire Touch.

By all means, if you can use Thunderlord's, take it. But if you can't use it...

Take extra point IN w and use barrier

Use w before she initiates you

If she keeps flash ulting move back when she moves up... bronze kids

My best advice is to play Annie. Then you will learn where you're weak at from other players attacking you. You can then attack Annie the same way.
