What is Teemo's identity? Why is his Ultimate so weak?

Before we dive into the discussion about Teemo, here's a quick summary about who I am and why I may be a decent source of info about the subject:

  • I have played Teemo in every role imaginable with much success in both Top & Jungle.
  • I have been maining Teemo since 2011 - I've played thousands of games with Teemo only.
  • I currently have over 1 million mastery points combined on Teemo when I add all of my accounts.
  • This season, in terms of Rank, Hikashikun and HLkashLkun are both Masters whereas HikashLkun is currently D2.

Anyways, this season has really gotten me confused about Teemo's identity. Like, is he a Marksman? A Mage? A Tank? A Split Pusher? A Rock? He's too weak to build solely AP as any other regular mage would thanks to the nerfs on his ultimate making it extremely risky rather than rewarding because for one, his ultimate can be easily disabled and destroyed by red trinkets (why can't this function work for disabling Caitlyn's traps?) and pink wards. Secondly, they don't nearly last as long to be useful in terms of effectiveness and impact. However, because Teemo's damaging abilities scale with AP, we're forced to build AP and even CDR to try and maximize his damage potential but we're still left with too much risk and very little reward therefore, we're being punished or put at a disadvantage to build accordingly. This has caused many other Teemo mains to build other items to remain remotely relevant such as Frozen Mallet, Runaan's Hurricane, etc., items that don't even add any value to any of his abilities; they're just there to add other utility such as wave clear or tankiness to his otherwise poor set of skills and stats.

Anyways, my suggestion to Riot is to either change Teemo's (R) Noxious Trap to last longer, cost less mana, and arm themselves faster or make his (Q) Blinding Dart scale with both AP and AD, similar to Jax's (Q) Leap Strike.

Also, I know that on PBE they are buffing Teemo's ultimate but they still don't address the other half of the issue, that being the mushrooms taking too long to arm themselves.

So many times have I tossed a mushroom on a jungle camp and as soon as I auto the creeps, they pass right through the mushroom without even activating it. Also, the bouncing mushroom thing is still so damn useless, I rarely use that mechanic at all. Like, what is the point of the bouncing mushrooms again? I can bounce mushrooms into the enemy? But don't they like take forever to even go invisible and arm themselves, allowing the enemy plenty of time to take them out? I love tossing the mushroom part but loathe the bouncing.

They do feel weak, but let's all agree, that fed Teemos = Satan.

Champion Spotlight: Satan

Satan turns invisible if he stands still and he can stealth forever so you can never kill him.

Q will blind you for eternity and then he murders you.

W will make him so fast that you can make a Ramadan fasting joke.

E is poison. POISON.

R is... Weak.

HIKASHIKUN on boards! I really, really hope someone from Riot answers you. We've been talking about this stuff for months now.

Oh btw, it looks that they reverted the buff to Teemo's shrooms for some reasons on the newer PBE update.

Ah, you're the one who created that wonderful Jungle Teemo guide.

The biggest and most glaring problem with Teemo for me is his lack of any of kind of position changer. He doesn't have a dash or teleport. He has nothing to "get out" of a situation other than mushrooms. He has no way to avoid skillshots other than trying to sidestep. It's easy to see Teemo as being this kind of super-squishy melt-everything carry, like Kindred jungle was before the juggernaut items, but unlike Kindred who has an ult to survive getting focused down and a dash to remain capable of repositioning quickly during teamfights and dodging skillshots, Teemo just feels rather useless in this high-mobility meta outside of skirmishing/catching people out.

If they made his W a dash he would become so much more relevant in my opinion.

it would also help if they actually provided more AP bruiser itemization options.

Officially his identity is scout/ambusher.

Unofficially his identity is "the champ that isn't overly powerful but makes you want to kill yourself when you play against them nonetheless". He's in the same group as Nunu.

Ah the old days

where shrooms lasted twice as long and did twice the damage

People would cry people would complain people would rage untill the salt piled up so high it turned heaven into hell and made the universe burn

those where the days

They're increasing shroom timer to 7 mins, CD to 22s and flat 75 mana.

Shroomv have long arm time, because they are traps, not bomb, though I admit it would be funny.

I'd say the one thing that makes me enjoy teemo most unlike most yordles is the mixture of move quick with his passive.

He's a lane bully, who was more like a inverted zed where late he was only useful as a split pusher, but with the changes and bouncing shrooms It's enforced him as an position abuser. A champion that although easy to learn damage output he gives off he is a support and adc mixed into one kit and is a good transition from a top laner to a support or adc because of his kit.

So with the idea that he is a support adc what do they most enjoy? and its generally movement speed why I find item 3100 just incredibly strong on him by how well he can proc the passive but kite and chase. also surge mastery helps against enemy champs that slow teemo because 70% slow resistance and a 40% movement speed not even a nasus wither will effect you getting away.

He's a weird guy though there is no doubt in that, but that's just my reason for enjoying him and most top/mid/junglers could probably build item 2301 and help do some of those things without mushrooms

He's like Singed, where he doesn't have a real defined role, rather he can do a bit of everything if built right.

And, if you think his ult is weak... well, you need more practice. ^^ Easily one of the most ridiculous ults I've ever used, and has netted me so many kills / prevented so many deaths.

I like how you're telling a two-time master player to practice his champion more.

Have you seen ANYTHING I write on these forums? Most high-tier players are just as bad as any bronzie -- they just get carried by absurd comps / broken champs.

Watching master / challenger / diamond games... they make the same mistakes I see in low silver. They just win by virtue of how much CC they have, and how braindead their damage is. ^^

Your name is not really worth remembering because as far as I'm aware you haven't made any posts worth remembering.

So maybe. But I wouldn't know. Of course though, you're right. High-elo players just carry themselves using freelo. And that's why you're not even Gold yet.

Go watch a challenger game, and come back and tell me what champs they use.

  • How many of them rely on skillshots or complex mechanics? Close to none.

  • But, how many are brainless, point-and-click CC / nuke spammers, or entirely AA reliant? Nearly all of them.

See, in high ELO, they play the same way that any bronzie does, but there's one difference: In high ELO, they give up on having fun in the game, and play with absurd comps that are absolutely boring, but just about guarantee a win. A teamfight in diamond is determined by who has more CC and burst. You won't see any truly good players, you'll just see teams full of people exploiting what Riot fucks up. Sure, they may be a tiny bit better mechanically, and have a bit more overall game knowledge, but they're just the same as the people I play with every day. And, honestly, most of them are just bad -- especially if they don't have access to point-and-click CC lockdown and targeted abilities.

The reason I'm not climbing is because I play video games for fun, and rather than picking boring ass champions that are easy to win with, I play champions that I actually enjoy playing, and have to work to win with. Plus, in my ELO, there's no such thing as teamwork, so you really can't rely on anyone but yourself.

He was Challenger at a point. So I kinda agree on Sciela at points. Seeing HIKASHIKUN is the best Teemo player in NA & falling off it shows some champs are downright broken. It's bullshit.

Teemo is a disruptor marksmen

Basically a utility marksmen but on the AP-side

They are also buffing teemo soon read em before posting o_o

I made reply to a rioter about this item item 3364 effecting Teemo Ulti so bad. Funny to how badly it effects only him to. Otherwise I wish they did something about his W to as I feel it is so useless & dated on this heavy CC & mobility system now. Once you get caught.. It is far to easy to melt Teemo because of how badly squishy he is.. it's worst yet on how there forcing many Teemo players on going in which he was not really built to do really.

I think the main problem to is his shrooms cant do a thing to tanks & such with a lot of HP building & self sustain.

17 second cooldown on his w that gives a 36% movespeed boost for 3 seconds. It's absurdly laughably useless.

I just want to say that I hate you and everything you stand for, Teemo is the thing I hate most about top lane, everytime like 89% of the time its vs teemo, I cant cs, I cant stay under tower because w q aa and I lose 15% of health.... like screw you dude
