Is going pure hp finally better than balanced spread of defenses?

If there is so much armor pen, building armor will still get shredded. In that case you are taking pure damage so why not build hp? Before people would say balanced spread is better but maybe it's different now? Pure hp also works better because you don't have to go mr or armor just choose hp.
