New matchmaking system idea (pretty big implications, pretty easy change)

In addition to your MMR in normals, and MMR and current rank in Ranked, I propose Riot's matchmaking system adds Teammate Scaling, a new hidden stat like MMR. TL;DR at the bottom I'll make a preliminary system for the Teammate Score (TS) here: Initial TS = 100 If you get an honor in a match, +1 per honor TS +1 for every match you don't afk or get reported in TS -1 for every report filed on you per game by your team (So you can't get trolled by the enemy after they lose, not quite sure how to keep people on your team from keeping you out if you lose and they're mad though, suggestions below? Perhaps once the tribunal is back [I'm sorry, IF the tribunal comes back] you can refund the point when found innocent?), stopping at a certain TS (really low, like -100 or something because if you get really toxic you might just spam reports to lower your teammates and generally troll, and block up the tribunal [god willing it comes back] with false reports in the process) TS -1 per game you AFK in or you get reported by your team, increasing by -1 per game in a row this happens (or maybe set a delay like if you AFK this match, then 3 matches the counter sticks and increases, you can work out the numbers as time goes on) TS cap: Maybe should be set to prevent abuse if you build up a huge team score, but with a decent buffer so that 1 or 2 bad games doesn't send you all the way to the bottom TS- Set to either 0 or a really low number following a ban from the tribunal or time restriction from leaverbot TS MAYBE +1 per friend request on post game screen (only on post game to prevent Trolls from banding together and abusing the free +1s)

-----All games must be matchmade PvP games to gain TS, but maybe able to lose TS in bot matchmade games-----

The matchmaking bot would then look at its current restrictions, then only accept matches with people of a certain TS, maybe +/- 1. After every certain queue length increment that buffer would go up by +/- 1, like every 5 seconds past the first 20 seconds maybe? All the numbers above would obviously have to be toyed with to find a balance, but I feel like this system would be a decent starting point to at least test out.

TL;DR- A new system that matches toxic players with toxic players and players trying to be good, decent people to others trying the same is long overdue, as is the rebirth of the tribunal, and isn't a difficult concept to design (I came up with the above in less than 20 minutes including my awful typing speed and many typo corrections).

EDIT: I forgot to put my thought out post footer. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a wonderful day! Good luck on the rift!

I'm pretty new to this game, but I think I can speak for pretty much the whole community when I say that I never felt like my reports did anything. If this went through at least when I report someone I'll know it at least did SOMETHING to punish them for being toxic. And it makes honor points a valuable tool again, which would be nice.

Would be nice, but bottom line, its a team game. In REAL life, outside of video games..... you are going to have to deal with difficult people, via work, school.. etc. Same applies to league.. Sometimes ppl just have a bad day, bad game.. what ever. Doesn't mean they're always toxic. (not making excuses here just pointing out some variables)

I've concluded that although this game takes some skill in regards to mechanics, decision making, CSing etc. Teamwork/working together probably plays just as much if not more of a role in your rank/elo. So essentially.. find a way to work with difficult people and ranked will probably get easier...

Yeah, I admit people can have one bad day or a really bad game (my 1/11/1 kha game today is good reference to how you SHOULDNT play), but a system like this should establish enough of a buffer to make those negligible, and occasional good days as well. If the system was balanced and designed well enough it should force most consistently toxic players together and most consistently friendly players together. If balanced well enough it might even make in betweeners match with the same level of in betweeners.

Could you imagine... i mean, maybe 90% of the player base wouldnt be bronze anymore! Or maybe it would just make 95% of the player base bronze loool ^^; who knows. I would personally rather them find a solution for afkers/intentional feeders first. ^^.

A new system that matches toxic players with toxic players...

Prisoner's Island. This has been discussed many, many, many times and Riot has rejected it. It does not work well for subjective offenses like verbal abuse.

They've discussed the possibility of creating a "leaver's island" for players that frequently AFK, but for now they're sticking with the current low priority queue (just makes you wait longer to queue up).
