HotS-style Matchmaking?

I'm sincerely tired of being the polite guy on the team who calls top or mid, locks a champion, and then has some guy say "me mid" which forces me to support. Don't get me wrong, I love supporting, but sometimes I'm just in the mood for something different... and let's face it. The honor system of call-and-lock is extremely crude and unreliable.

What I suggest is this: A Normals mode in which you choose both role and champion ahead of time, and are then queued appropriately. "But Shingetsu, you idiot!" you'll say. "What happens when some dimwit wants to go ADC Sona?!"

To which I reply, what happens when that dimwit wants to go ADC Sona in blind pick? You either deal with it or you dodge. Not much difference to the way you'd deal with it in this theoretical mode.

Draft doesn't guarantee your champion. I only have a couple non-support champions I'm comfortable with, and if between picking and banning they all happen to be gone, welp.

ummm.... i fail to see how that is an issue.. i have 2 junglers i play and 3 supports. i play NOTHING else. ( i technically can but i am out of practice and haven't played them in over a year)

like who do u play that this is an issue with

i get all 5 picked / banned like once every 500 games...

I don't know in particular who might be an issue, as I don't often do draft. The point is that I don't want to have to compete with other players for the champion and role I want all the time, and there are others in the same boat. Particularly when a new champion or skin is launched. For those people who'd be willing to wait five minutes in queue to play the newest champ, guaranteed, there should be a system that allows for that.

that's the ENTIRE point of draft though...

Particularly when a new champion or skin is launched. For those people who'd be willing to wait five minutes in queue to play the newest champ, guaranteed, there should be a system that allows for that.

well we have had that issue sicne the release of they game and until riot gives out one for all each patch they release or rework a new champ thats never going to happen

I mean what am I supposed to do? Draft is essentially the same thing half the time, plus ten more possibilities to miss out on the champion you want. At least with blind pick, you can quick-grab the champ. It then becomes an issue of role. I don't have a problem with getting a champion in blind pick, the only issue for people there comes when they're not fast enough and they have to dodge to get another shot. I don't have that problem thanks to my supercomputer and 19ms ping. My problem is everyone getting on the same page as far as roles go.

Draft locks in a role for you. Chances are, you won't have to compete with anyone for a champion in your role, because most champions tend to stick to one role, like Veigar or Zed. On those who do other roles, like Yasuo, who is mostly played mid sometimes top, you'd have to contest with 1 person maybe picking him before you, as opposed to 4 people. Sure, bans are a thing. If they ban your pick, as you've stated, you have other picks you can select, so just pick one of them. Either way, you're still guaranteed your role, and the odds of both teams completely banning ALL of your picks are pretty slim.

So you have 2 scenarios here - The Hunger Games or the NFL. Do you prefer mass scrambling and fights to death for resources, or more controlled situations where you might lose some options, but have guaranteed options instead?
