Do assassins even matter anymore?

Everyone so so damn tanky that assassins don't do jack shit anymore. Even the AP champs like Akali and Ekko and Fizz are building tank. ADCs have Death's Dance, Bloodthirster, Phantom Dancer, Maw, Steraks, and Mercurial to make them impossible to assassinate. Zed is basically the only assassin that's still relevant because he can buy Duskblade and get 2 ults for the price of 1.

But what about Rengar, Katarina, Shaco, Talon, etc.? Why bother playing them when the average team these days consists of 2-3 tanks (top, support, jungle, and sometimes even mid) and an ADC who's just as impossible to kill?

What about the assassins who realistically CAN'T build tank? What's the point of playing them? They're completely useless.......

Are you kidding? I literally see nothing BUT assassins these days. Of course, the one tank (the nemesis of assassins) will end up running roughshod over them because no one knows what armor shred is anymore.

Just because an item or two is broken, making everyone build tank with it, doesn't mean that an entire class is useless. It means that in the next patch it will most likely get nerfed and everything will be back to what it was.
