You guys keep trying to balance Duskblade...

How long will take to realize that an 3000- gold item that have two strong unique passives and lethality will never be balanced? Seriously, this item has 2 years and a half and has been reworked a couple of times already. Can't you guys come to the conclusion that a single item shouldn't never give everything a class needs? It's obvious that such item will always be too weak or too strong, problematic, never fairly balanced?

"a single item should never give everything a class needs"

Zoe Orianna "Yeah!" item 3285

Jax Camille Irelia "Yeah!" item 3078

Aatrox Illaoi Garen "true" item 3071

Varus Ashe Lucian "yup" item 3153

LUL, yeah assassins, an early game champ, just shouldn't get a 1 item powerspike.

item 3078 Is only not considered OP because of it's price, but still a power spike to be reckoned.

item 3071 Sucks dick currently. Damn, even Darius stopped building it.

item 3153 Check this one's patch history. A rollercoaster of nerfs and buffs. Had to have Melee/Ranged division in order to become decent.

No mention of item 3285 which has a very similar passive to duskblade but isnt dependent on being out of vision, do i smell a mage main?

Edit: also can be proc'd from longer range since its off spells and not an auto (from champs that are usually melee).

Well... you could say that Yasuo cast a lot of spells over time... So... yes? I think?

Let's be honest, though: BorK doesn't give everything those 3 champions needs, and neither does BC.

Ashe and Lucian also need CDR, Ashe also needs crit, while Varus also needs CDR, I think? I honestly don't know, I don't play Varus.

Aatrox, Illaoi, and Garen all need resistances, not just health. BC gives them a lot of what they need, but certainly not all of it.

Although...I'm kinda just being pedantic here, as those both give most of what they need.

However, OP does have a good underlying point: Duskblade gives too many things. It having CDR and AD is fine, obviously, nobody's going to fault assassins for getting that. Hell, the blackout is also fine (if a tad bit poorly-implemented), or the damage is fine.

The problem is that the item has both passives on top of being everything they need for only 3000g, which kinda leaves it a bit overloaded.

arguably the best comparison of the items i mentioned is item 3285 for mages, CDR a good chunk of ap, mana and mana sustain, plus a passive very similar to duskblade, only lacks something like the blackout passive.

That would be the best comparison, yes. The item is everything mages need except mpen (which is (basically) free on boots anyways).

But, again, we do have to note OP's main point that the damage and the blackout is just a bit much.

Eh I'd argue the blackout thing is a very helpful niche for assassins who generally try to find a good flank in fights, and getting spotted by a random ward can completely cuck that (they're known about and immediately get turned on and explode b/c squishy). And as someone who plays assassins I'd rather have blue or yellow trinket so i can make sure im not walking into 2-3 people looking for that flank so im unlikely to have a sweeper.

As a compromise maybe reduce the duration of blackout so that while you can clear 1 or 2 wards if they're close together but not clear out the whole river in one duration of it, or increase the cooldown on it so they can't do it as often?

I don't about how it the passive should be changed, I'm just of the mind that at least one passive needs to go, and I'm pretty sure most people would rather the damage go instead of the blackout.

I don't know, Kha is a supreme version of a flank assassin, and even then Blackout doesn't help with flanks as you are already seen by the time the passive goes off. It does give some utility in being able to clear wards instantly though.

Ashe doesn't need cdr, is welcome on her but is not vital on her build.

If they were to take Blackout out of the item, I would actually agree with you, what they can't do is take any damage off the item. Because then we live in a world where ADCs that have a viable BC item first buy tank your damage, and that isn't a good place to be.

MFW I troll the shit out of both teams with Sona item 3025 one time and still win the game

Will never be balanced? It already is.

Duskblade is balanced

I find the current duskblade pretty balanced as far as items go.

I feel like the most balanced iteration of duskblade was the first, though.
