@Riot: How much does the "too much noise" argument prevent you from adding UI improvements?
There's a number of things that could be added that could really improve gameplay in terms of UI updates and features:
- Adding "Warded" and/or "Ward It" pings
- Adding an indicator that tells you when a teammate is trying to use an ability/item on you
- Adding a small circle under your Champion (ala Hexakill) to help you locate yourself in frantic fights
- Changing the little green circle in the Champion sidebar to actually show how long your ult will be on cooldown (instead of only lighting up when your ult is ready)
- Adding sidebar indicators that tell your teammates if your Summoner Spells are on/off cooldown
Unfortunately, whenever these are brought up, quite a lot of people oppose implementing these UI features because of the "too much visual clutter" or "too noisy" arguments. It's a real shame that their arguments end up halting these UI features from being added, because some of them would be REALLY useful (especially that Warded ping; I can't keep saying "Warded" when I'm chat-restricted!).
I'd like to know how much these "too noisy!" arguments mean in terms of preventing League from getting UI improvements and new features. Would it really be so bad to have the sidebar show actual cooldown gauges (ala Spectator Mode) rather than those little green circles? And if something like that little Hexakill circle were too much of an eyesore, why not make it toggleable in the Options Menu?
EDIT: Downvoted for asking reasonable questions.
