Congrats Riot - You got me to consider giving up support.
Two seasons of playing mainly support and I can say that Riot, you have finally achieved one of your missions: getting players to try other champs. In short you have convinced me to start giving up support - you know that role you have to have players usually autofill into - and get me considering other roles. Under Runes Reforged / patch 7.22, I have to say that support is one heck of a lousy role to be stuck in (well, it wasn't great before but it is much less enjoyable now).
The two runes and trees that were supposedly for supports are better if you are a damage dealer(!). The resolve tree is lousy for supports - though somewhat okay if you are a toplane or jungle tank (but even then...). The inspiration tree plays right into the hands of those who deal damage. The one keystone in the sorcery tree (Aerie) is great if you are a poke-champ or are a damage maker - but is meh if you are going utility.
And on top of that, the improvements that were done to ensure that the jungler didn't abuse the catch-up experience is punishing the heck out of us supports if we are doing warding. It is not fun at all when you are two to three levels behind - even when you are stuck in lane babysitting an adc who cannot hit - because if you roam you call even further behind.
So, I am strongly considering giving up support for other roles. Perhaps toplane or mid might be more suitable under this patch.
