How do you lane against Singed?

I main Riven, so broad and specific stuff all helps.

Also can his Q really become more defined? It's really, really, fucking hard to see, and so many times I get poisoned when it didn't touch me.

The general thing is if he's proxying, just ignore him and farm like normal. Early on it'll be a little difficult, but once you get some levels and something like a tiamat you can waveclear and not really worry about him too much.

That's not my problem, my problem is that he outduels me, and I can't trade with him because he flings me, and then I either try to fight, and end up chasing him, or dissengage, and lose the trade because I did a total of 0 damage to him, while I ate around 4 seconds of poison and an E damage. If I just try farming he runs at me and I get outraded.

If he has a few item 1082 with a tear and corrupt potion then you have no option other than to bend over as Riven lol

As a Singed Main that hates Riven in general, I can safely say you don't have to do much, because he's pretty much garbage right now. item 3070

For poison trail, all you gotta do is farm from a safe distance. When he tries to get himself close, just land normal combo, use your E to shield yourself from the damage and just combo at him. Until he hits 6, he's not gonna do much to as side from tease you with poison. If he tries to get close, just stun and smack him and just bunny hop away.

Singed's entire playstyle when he hits 6 is to lull his enemies into a false sense of security by teasing you with a low health bar, and then ult and fling you. With Riven, all you need to do is ult him, because his ult doesn't help him regen quite fast enough.

Get a few kills like that, and you basically have run of the game with your giant snowball. Good job.

Now I'm going to cry in a corner as another Riven Main destroys me. item 3070

Bunny Hop away from him if he starts getting close. Riven has functionally four dashes, albeit short distance ones, you can hop over a wall or something. The only way he's catching up is if he can use his Adhesive slow, and even then he's got to get enough of a lead up. The Shield Hop has such a short cooldown that you don't have to worry about soaking that much damage.

Singed is too tanky to kill in a single combo though. And I don't know how to trade with him.

As others have said, avoid letting him get close. If he does, stun, Auto, and hop away. Don't go for full combos until you've got an item or two, which will not be especially long.

And if you are having that much trouble with poison trail, then build item 3194 Because it exists now.

Unless he's rushing armor (which he should be against a Riven) he is squishier than he looks when you tag him with your combo. Q-Auto-Q-Auto, and last Q to get away, or use E.

when playing against singed with any melee champion you have to bite the bullet and stay away from him if you dont have magic resist runes or some form of early magic resist. if singed is sitting behind your towers then ping jungler to come help you take him out. make zzrot your first item and use it to kill his tower. zzrot is the strongest defensive item in the game, but the passive/active is awful for most champions since it requires hp to be efficient. it helps if you have crowd control of some kind. ward deep and farm your minions as close to your turret as possible without them hitting the turret. taking ghost helps

Yeah, basically as has been said already, if you're melee you don't wanna fight him because he'll just be cancer and still get his farm, just focus on farming up and trying to make plays elsewhere on the map.
