How to handle fizz from a Gold II Fizz main

Let me start by saying I'm a fizz main, not high elo (Gold I ish with him)... but I've played him more than enough to know his strengths and weaknesses... so here ya go.

  1. As much as people think he's invincible... his early cooldowns control him compared to... anything. Bait his E and he is literally useless (if you land your skills) to poke/kill him, his W is an execute dot, so don't bait his E and manmode him at 20% hp yourself....

2)His MANA. Believe it or not, he can use his full rotation most early levels "once", yes, once, even with flask he does not have the ability to dash all over the map without recalling or waiting 3-4 minutes because of his low base mana and mana regen nerfs. To be specific, around level 3 his qwe combo will cost 180 mana (all level 1 skills) and this increases over time. Even with the bonus mana mastery, he has 342 base mana... so if you make him use his e more than once, he cant fight early while it recovers, not with a full rotation. This means if he e's and w's, he cannot Q, or if he qs and w's, he cannot e, meaning more specifically... he can't escape, he's in deep and kiteable.

2-A) his level 1 E costs 90 mana (+10 per e level), before engaging/poking, check his mana to make sure he can't full combo you, if he can stay away and bait his abilities

  1. post 6 is tricky, you "have" to bait his shark because of the damage amp. If you absolutely cannot, zhonyas or qss it works, and that's HUGE .... but you must simply avoid his E following. So dodge r (stay ranged), make sure he cant full combo you ( < 300 mana), or dodge/flash his E following.

3-A) the 300 mana is in reference to qwer combo, not post shark combo. Also note this advice, like vs any assassin is worthless if he's fed. Fed assassins kill people. period. Don't forget that.

  1. This is something as a fizz player I hate, if you're high hp when fizz engages, his E is a HUGE majority of his damage, his q and w are 0.35 and 0.45 ap ratios, which means a full ap fizz will heavily rely on his full combo (unless fed or you're a squishy out of position). if you dodge his q, you cut out up to 30% of his burst, dodge his E and it's more than 60%. His w is melee, which a flash, dash, escape, knockback, jump, you name it... if he used his abilities just step away. _Yes, his q can be dodged with any dash/flash/escape cancelling the damage entirely. _

  2. TEAMFIGHTS. He's a burst assassin, and a "very" squishy one if he goes full burst. if he goes in and zhonyas, time a snare/stun on him (he can't jump or dash snared) and you will be able to nuke him in 1 second flat. take his jump/dash from him and he sits there getting... well....

  3. He's melee, and unlike some melees, his engages do not have disengages "unless" Your carries are out of position to where he doesn't use his q. He is a position punisher, period. if he dives to your "back" line and doesn't get a kill, he's as good as dead unless you let his entire team get to him to save his ass (or if you have no form of CC whatsoever), if your adc is ramboing the front lines... hes dead.

6A) Annie is another favorite main of mine (or used to be) because it's stupid to be able to nuke people like that from the range her flash/tibbers does, and between her and fizz... fizz has to literally get on top of his target while annie stays far enough to escape (with hard stuns). Remember that if fizz wants the booty, he has to literally get on top of the booty.... which is easy to bait and react to, because if he goes in. HE IS COMMITTED, (unless you watch the carry die and walk away from him because #fizz)

7 and final) most of fizz is mindgames. His ap ratios aren't that strong so unless he's fed, he's just another assassin, A squishy, committed, assassin. Bait him, and kill him if he makes any mistakes, because if a fizz makes a mistake engaging and lives to tell the tale, it's because the enemy team let him, or his own team carries him.

Anyways... hope this helps. As a fizz main I can tell you, he's fun to play, very strong used right, but if an opponent knows how to play against you it just isn't funny, roams must be successful due to you devoting 60%+ of your max mana to a full burst early game, or you MUSt win your lane because his ap ratios aren't too fantastic compared to others. In lane if your opponent lets you farm, they "deserve" to lose because fizz has no sustain or poke, and SHOULD be punished early if he gets baited even once, make him useless!

Have fun!

tldr; his mana costs are stupid, if he uses his abilities he's just a melee to kite/cc and destroy, and position well. Position,. Position. POSITION! Position destroys fizz.

PS: I bought one skin ever, cottontail fizz.... because it's truly cancerous to be killed by anything looking like that, and that is hilarious.

A popular build nowadays is to get his CDR to 40% so you can go in, zhony's after 1 sec and go back out immediately or use your E to dodge abilities and continue going in. Kinda the same like old Kassadin, but with lower range. With this build, he's way harder to kill, but he probably won't 100-0 you unless he's fed. He can however come back in multiple times to clean up.

come back... how can he go in and get out so far unpunished? read the guide man :)

He can't "get in" without going ham, unless he sends his ult and leaves... or carries OOP

He can come in with his Q and E. If he can survive 1 seconds without using, he can Q and E immediately after coming out of it, similar how Kassadin ults in, zhonyas and ults out. But Fizz is more balanced than old kassadin was (less dmg and/or less mobility depending how you build)

if they give him that one second, and the place he zhonyas is so safe that he isnt cclocked the moment he exits it... every bit of fault falls to his enemies for allowing that.

If your E is from CD, you can chain it immediately after zhonya's, so no way to possibly lock him down. If he doesn't, he can still Q first making it hard to land a skillshot on him which he can follow up with an E once it's ready. With a kit like Fizz's, skillshots are way easier to dodge than it is for the enemy to land them. Anyways, he needs that evasive skill to work. I'm just saying it isn't as simple as "lock him down GG." It takes effort to land a lock down and it depends on who played better.

fizz needs a pretty decent lead in order to get going id say hes more lategame then most mid laners so if u wanna pick somone that can punish fizz and scale better pick kass

This is a really nice guide. People keep downvoting it because rather than learning how to play against a champion they would rather riot nerfed it for them. Seriously fizz has a winrate lower than 50% and you can hear people cry about how OP he is. Also people keep complaining how with 40% cdr he can E zhonya E. I have news for you. there is a 0.5-0.8s time where you can use your CC on him right after his zhonya wears off. use it. people also say that he can use his E so many times cause of its low cd. It has a 130 mana cost. just using it 3 times will drain 390 mana.
