Why is infernal dragon so unfair? Can it be changed to increase damage % instead of AP and AD?

For those who don't know, infernal dragon only affects AP and AD and not actual damage. For champions who rely on base damages, attack speed, or penetration, the dragon is almost worthless.

Here is a post from a while back where AquaDragon calculated the approximate dps increase for some champions. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/4k2qiuM9-the-true-value-of-infernal-drake-a-nuanced-damage-analysis

Jhin who relies heavily on AD and high ability scalings gets 37% damage increase with 3 dragons while Vayne who relies mostly on attack speed and base ability damage gets a 6% increase.

On every mage the dragon is almost entirely worthless and for tanks and supports it is worthless. Gragas gets about a 1% increase in damage from having all 3 dragons.

24% AP is worthless on almost all mages? What are you smoking? Even one stack makes a hugely noticeable difference in damage from combos..

Something is massively wrong with that math, whoever did the calcs was incompetent. veigar gets 4% more damage, when all his abilities have around 100% AP ratios? That is mathematically impossible. A lv18 veigar should have about 1000-1300 AP, even if the 24% bonus is to base AP before deathcap and his passive, it is still a couple hundred more damage per ability.

It only increases 4 percent because Veigar has such phenomenal base damages.

I know you're being serious, but this is a bad idea. Buffing Infernal Drake, already one of the best Drakes in game, rivaled only, perhaps, by Mountain Drake? Just all kinds of nope.

It wouldn't be a buff though. It would be a buff to some champs and a nerf to others. I find it absurd that a tool tip that seems to give a 24% damage buff gives Jhin a 37% increase while giving supports less than 1% damage increase and most tanks around 1%.

I also don't understand how it can be one of the best in the game. If your team comp is a juggernaut top, tank jungle, mage middle, and attack speed ADC, you would average about a 2% damage increase between everyone on your team with all 3 infernal drakes.

The point of having the different types of dragons was that each type would have a different level of importance to different team comps. Infernal Dragon isn't that great for you? Don't prioritize it as an objective.

It honestly isn't broken unless you get 3 of them, and elder.

Yeah its pretty broken at 3 especially if you throw in an Elder. Thats like rolling Critical Strikes(double 6) non stop in Heroclix. You better win or have a decent team unless you are facing some kind of unprecedented cheese like Pre-nerf/banned Felix Faust.

Yeah, honestly, Mountain drake is more worth it in the end. Yes, you get bonus from infernal, but you get hella more damage on structures with Mountains, which, in my opinion, is a lot better than a few extra AP or AD

Some dragons are suppose to better for some champions than others.

If that happens the damage would need to be nerfed if it was for all damage instead of AP and AD. My guess it is that way so certain champions will have more viability with RNG.

The change you are suggesting would possibly make tanks do even more damage making them more problematic and hard to deal with.

I agree it needs some change but...an increase to all types of damage would snowball 1 team way harder as the current dragon requires AD and AP to be effective not to mention it would favor early game more as opposed to AD/AP mid-late while also being good mid and late.

I still think we need a dragon that increases the % AR-MR.

Mountain allows tanks and supports to deal more damage to objectives. Much more useful for them than Infernal the Issue is Mountain is good for anyone.
