So with new champion select coming up,why do we need inter-team pick order?

And by "inter-team pick order" I mean pick order within the same team(not between the two teams),I'll clarify further(if that's needed) at the end.

I just don't see why we need it if people are able to select their own role, the reason we have it now is due to the fear of people instalocking their favorite roles, creating a mess in ranked, but with new champion select that shouldn't be an issue anymore(I mean riot's api is already able to recognize which role a person goes to,identifying trolls would be incredibly easy and presumably not worth the risk).

I mean let's face it,in a competitive environment(which ranked is supposed to be) draft order is very important(and for those of us who watch competitive play,we can see that every game),and due to the fact most people don't own all champions(or even most) trading in solo q is a VERY messy process, previously there was no simple solution for this, due to people instalocking roles(like they do in blind) and refusing to communicate with their team, but now there simply is no serious reason for it to stay.

I think that removing it will encourage people to communicate in solo q while making it a more competitive environment, where unique champions strengths(like versatility picks being made first, and more niche picks being made later) are more accessible.

*To further clarify on "inter-team pick order": Currently lol's draft has a pick order of 1:2:2:2:2:1 between the teams, this is the pick order between the teams, and NOT what I'm talking about or want removed. Currently the "first guy"(the one at the top of the screen) on blue team HAS to be the first pick, the idea is to instead let anyone who is willing(on blue team) to be the first pick make one pick, followed by two people on the red team(ANY TWO people willing to do so,instead of the specific two people at the top) picking, continuing at the 1:2:2:2:2:1 pick order between the teams until all picks are made.

**As a final note:there are some minor issues that arise with this, but I don't see any which aren't easy to fix, trolls are very easy to identify, people going for the same champion CAN TALK IT OUT,if nobody makes a pick the dodge penalty can be split among those who didn't pick/etc,overall I just think that the losses are very small for what we stand to gain.

This is really interesting and would add to the flexibility of solo queue drafting I think.

this won't change anything, as the people that are instalocking today to get their role, will just choose to pick first tomorrow if that system would be implemented.

Also this won't improve communication at all, if anything is known about this community, it's that people are selfish and don't approve of niche out of the meta picks.

Another point you said is that trolls are easy distinguishable, how is that so? What about a person that likes to be first pick everytime, is he considered a troll?

conclusion: the system of who gets firstpick nowadays is already random, and is the fairest system possible assuming we are all soloQ'ing

With new champ select you can't pick one role only, you'll have to pick however two roles (or use the fill option anyway) to enter the queue, but people would still probably have a preferred role So, if they can, they'll use the inter-team pick order to get their preferred role, and I don't see how many people would willingly accept to renounce to play in the role they prefer

Let's say a guy want to play mid and picks mid-jungle in queue and enter the game. If he is first pick, he'll pick his preferred role (mid) and his preferred champ (directly or indirectly). If he is 4th pick, he'll probably be forced to set on a jungler since mid will be probably yet called by one of the first 3 guys So, why the first pick guy should risk to lose his priority on the role and champ he wants to get possibly screwed in the priority swap by another guy? Let's say that someone prefer to play ADC but to speed up queue times he chosses the option fill and then happen to be team captain. Why this guy should at that point swap his priority to another guy if he luckily can manage to get his preferred role?

Like, there could be guys that don't care much about settling on their 2nd preferred role, but many people would still want to leverage on pick order to geth their roles

The problem is that before each pick you would need to decide the players who actually get to pick, otherwise three players trying to lock in a champ at the same time would be awks. Getting five people to decide between 10 possibilities is probably going to take some time, not to mention adding a lot of confusion to situations where people aren't communicating in the first place.
