@ any Rioters, why don't skirmishers have their intended weakness?

You guys classified roles in order to facilitate discussions of characters through those lens, so here we go. Lets talk about Skirmishers.

According to Riot, Skirmishers:

> Unlike Assassins, Skirmishers aim to shred through any nearby enemy that approaches. Because Skirmishers lack high-end burst damage or reliable ways of closing in on high-priority targets, they are instead armed with situationally powerful defensive tools to survive in the fray, along with extreme sustained damage to cut down even the most durable targets.

So they are made to kill EVERYTHING, possess powerful defensive tools and have the games highest sustained damage.

Their weakness is supposedly low burst damage and no reliable way to gap close.

The skirmishers of the game are

Fiora Riven Yasuo Tryndamere Master Yi Jax Ekko

See the problem here?

Most of these guys have ways to instantly gap close and all snowball more easily than most champs into fed states where they gain extreme burst damage.

What gives riot? Other characters that aren't supposed to burst simply don't burst unless extremely fed.

Lacking reliable ways to close in on high priority targets also doesn't really hold true here. These guys mostly have gap closers that go through the front line.

They may get stomped after running in, ( they snowball so hard who knows), but they still ultimately have an easier time reaching their target than other sub classes that don't have this as a clearly defined weakness.

This is probably going to be hard to hear, but they do indeed lack a reliable way to close in on high priority targets. Dashing alone is not entirely reliable and is more than easily stopped by anyone with just a bit of hard CC and a brain. Unlike Zed, Katarina, Talon, Rengar, Kha'Zix, Fizz, etc who all have blinks or stealth or other methods of avoiding damage and slipping into the backline, all the skirmishers listed have to force their way through a lot of damage and usually CC if they want to get even close to the ADCs and mages in the back. This is what Riot means when they say they "lack reliable ways of closing in on high-priority targets."

Side note: Obviously champions designed to do high sustained damage under normal circumstances are doing to do high burst damage when FED. That tends to happen when you feed a champion with high scaling.

except Master Yi, who can't be slowed and whose gap closer makes him untargetable. He can get in more reliably than half those assassins. He just doesn't have the burst.

You forget about XinZhao he can erase you in 2 seconds after 2 to 3 items, not bursty at all.

Yeah, I actually hate these champs, and Zed, I like to play Kha, yet I feel no champ should erase other like that, too much damage.

Xin Zhao is a diver, not a skirmisher.

For AD champions, "burst" is killing someone in 0.5-1.5 seconds. That's the difference between assassins and skirmishers (they're both slayers, so yeah they're pretty similar).

The reason skirmishers deal so much damage is because their gap closers are expended to get them into a fight, and then they need to basically kill someone before the priority has a chance to kite them.
