Zeke's Herald ??? Why don't I get kill assists?

KrazyIvanUSA··1 votes·983 views

So I have been getting into support role. I have been using Zeke's Herald a lot. Problem is that it is not giving me assists when AD friendlies nearby kill enemies. Isn't my item supporting their kill? WHY don't I get a kill assist?!?!?!?

It also looks like the Item Zeke's Herald does not have the correct description. Does it still give me a health and damage boost with life steal for me? It doesn't say. I will say yes, since those are the items that go into it, but it's not 100% clear.

Please FIX this riot!

Thanks.

You have to actually help your allies by doing more than just offering moral support to get an assist. Simply standing still doesn't cut it. Rewarding not doing anything would also a pretty bad design choice. It's in Riot's best interest to reward the players that really play their game, over players that don't. As a support you really should be picking a champion with a ton of powerful utility abilities along with item actives that allow you to make the plays.

Not to mention it's a lot easier to get assissts as a support than it is for most other rolls. Just heal or shield someone that's going to hit anything, BAM! assist. With other rolls - tanking for your team doesn't net assists, neither is being 0.2 seconds to slow casting a damage skill and watching your target die without an assist (but totally eating through your mana and cooldown).

Anyways - you don't deserve an assist if you're only helping with an aura.

If you are that close to give your allies Zeke's aura , why wont you just hit the enemy? Don't tell me you just stood there or run in circles why your allies are trying to fight.

melee supports....Braum

he can shield allies, use Q, ult. Those all will count as assists.

What if I am defending? I just took a caitlyn ult for my adc, or I am braum and standing in front of my ADC taking damage for them...? If anything I do helps that adc (or any other teammate) get a kill, i should get an assist. Isn't that what an "Assist" is?

The other issue is maybe I am playing as Maokai and I am approaching, but my teammate kills the enemy a little too fast before I can get there. But, had they not had my Zeke's Harold buff, I would have in fact gotten there before enemy died due to my teammates lower damage output without it....

Ya'll need to check the range for Zeke's Harold, it is actually a pretty big radius, and many kills happen before you can get near enough to get a hit in.

In an esoteric sense maybe, but in technical terms an assist is damaging an enemy, applying an effect to an enemy, or applying an active buff (not just an aura) to an ally. It isn't "I took damage that might or might not have hit this champion". You can't always measure if blocked damage guaranteedly would have hit the given champion, so we don't assign assists for it.

Sucks for you. Sometimes you won't get assists. Oh well. Better than giving you assists for every single person in a fight just because you're throwing a passive aura around.

I agree, if I don't spend 3k gold on a support item that helps my teammate. I guess I'll just stop using it. Every adc has commented thanks for me using it. But, I guess that is not worth it. SO, back to items to help ME and not them.

Doesn't matter if you spent gold on it. Still a passive aura. Doesn't work for Locket or Banner auras. Doesn't work for Zeke's. You still earn assists in the same way, even if you spend gold on an aura item. Assists have a set definition that doesn't change based on item purchases. They require active contributions.

Every adc has commented thanks for me using it.

Somehow I think that's an exaggeration. This tends to be an item that draws flame and ridicule rather than thanks. I can't see every ADC thanking you specifically for building an item that many of them believe is extremely weak.

SO, back to items to help ME and not them.

You can still buy items that help them if you want item-based assists. They just have to do so actively. The application of a Locket shield, or a Crucible cleanse, or slows from a Twin Shadows, or an Ardent Censer, etc etc etc.

It's getting removed and replaced by Zeke's Harbinger soon anyways, so probably a good idea to get used to not having it in your builds. I'd advise phasing it out.

It encourages you to be proactive, not just "oh look, my ally killed an enemy while my passive aura affected him. ASSIST!" You need to do... something, in order to "earn" that assist. I discovered a long time ago that if Karthus, Ezreal, Ashe or Jinx is global ulting, buff them if you have anything applicable. If they get the kill, it counts for you as well.

Aura items don't give off assists. Yes, they give allies buffed stats based on what the item provides but it doesn't really mean that you are meant to get an assist just because you are near them with this item. Assists are gotten by actually helping in the fight (i.e Healing, attacking, ect).

Besides, Zeke's will soon be an entirely different item this coming Wednesday, so overall there's no need to fix anything.
