@Meddler/Scruffy: Can I get an opinion regarding a "global minion rain" ult?
I was doing a bit of Starcraft 2 Co-op Missions as Zagara and had a thought about Zagara's ultimate, Infested Drop. To put it in context, it calls a rain of Zerg drop pods down on a target area that deal damage and spawn multiple Roaches that fight for you for a limited time. Pretty good for a shock-and-awe moment.
We have Gangplank's Cannon Barrage as a similar ultimate, but it doesn't spawn minions and is more damage-slanted. But would it be possible to have a variant of Infested Drop at some point in the game? Or would it be hard to balance because of the "spawns minions" part?
Here's a rough draft of a LoL version for more illustration. Take it with necessary salt.
#Infested Drop Target a large area anywhere on the map. After a short delay, you rain down pods that deal damage to all enemies in the area. Upon impacting, these pods release [minions] that automatically attack the nearest enemies they can find. The [minions] expire after X seconds.
To address any "it's IMBA" knee-jerks, here would be some caveats to the ability.
- Has a long cooldown, similar to Cannon Barrage.
- Doesn't deal a whole lot of damage with the initial drop effect.
- The [minions] would be relatively fragile and die easily.
- The [minions] would be uncontrollable by the player.
- The [minions] are not the same unit as regular lane minions.
#EDIT: The knee-jerk downvotes are strong.
