@Meddler: Do you find Lux's passive to... screw with her kit? How would you improve its design?

Lux is designed to always be at long range, but her passive requires her to autoattack to trigger it (or her laser). That just doesn't jibe with the rest of her kit very well. Rule of thumb is that if Lux goes to proc Illumination with autoattacks during a team fight, she'll be committing suicide when someone jumps on her.

Yes, Riot wants her to take risks, but I feel like it could be done better. Lux already has no mobility, and with assassins like Katarina, Zed, Nidalee and Ekko around, her lauded "safety" really means nothing these days.

I'm sure that if Lux were made today, her passive would be different, but am I correct in assuming this? If you had to remake Lux, Meddler, what would you do with her passive (if anything)?

EDIT: Wow, downvoted within 5 seconds. Someone's lurking...

Like her fellow siege mages, Xerath and Ziggs, they too have passives that push them into Auto Range. Why is that? Because how the else are you going to get near them with their range.

By pushin some power into an auto of sorts, they make it easier to play against them, by getting them more in range. It's a weakness that is there to dull down their long range.

The problem is that a large amount of Ziggs' and Xerath's power isn't tied up in theirs passives. They can still clear the caster minions with 1 q at a reasonable amount of AP/Lvl (sometimes before laning phase is even over). Lux can't clear them with 1 ability until super late game, like 1-3 AP items.

They both have a passive that requires them to occasionally throw out an auto to get a bit of extra dmg/maintain mana. Lux has to every single time she uses an ability. The amount of risk they have is much lower comparatively. And it's not like she's getting more reward for her higher risk, she has to put herself into higher risk scenarios just to compete.

It'd be nice if all her abilities (except shield) could pop her passive. You'd be rewarded for combo-ing, and since you can only chain a handful of abilities, you may still want to take the risk of landing an auto. You just wouldn't be required to auto in order to keep up w/ Ziggs'/Xerath's dmg output. I'd even be fine with slightly lower numbers to make up for it (although I still want to actually be able to clear a wave w/o needing to auto every single minion).

Ziggs and Xerath can clear waves with a single Q because theirs ARE WAY easier to dodge. Lux's is an aoe, slow, that can be used to Zone as well.

Because Lux's passive is considerably stronger. She can get up to 3 procs with a full combo. Ziggs gets a single auto that helps take down towers, and Xerath is for mana regen. So, she actually is getting a lot of reward for her risk.

If minions are dodging your spells then there's something wrong ; ) . Hers also costs way more mana and is on a longer CD. It's just really irritating that as Ziggs I can use a single ability that costs half the mana and has half the cd of Lux's E to clear waves instantly. When she has to cast it and then sit there and auto every one of them down.

Except their abilities do more damage, have shorter CDs, and cost less mana (taking into account Xerath's autos for mana).

Here, lets say lvl 20 Lux gets off her perfect combo of Q >> AA >> E >> Ult >> AA (or whatever):

Passive: 154+20%AP x 3 E: 240+60%AP Q: 130+35%AP Ult: 500+75%AP

Total: 1,332+190%AP

Now, lets look at a lvl 20 Ziggs with 2 Qs, 3 Mines (fairly small number considering), a single auto, and secondary dmg ult:

Passive: 160+35% AP Q: 255+65%AP x2 1st Mine: 140+30%AP Other Mines: 56+12%AP x 2 Ult: 400+72%AP

Total: 1,322+291%AP

: / Wow, look at all that extra reward Lux gets for being in AA range for almost her entire combo...

http://champion.gg/champion/Lux Her win rate against those champions are positive, and will only become even higher with the changes. Mobility on these champions are irrelevant when their opponent can 100-0 them from their entire screen. She also has one of the lowest average deaths.

If all champs had kits that synergized perfectly, what you have is monstrosities like Zed, Gragas and Ahri - who are unstoppable gods if played correctly. Gragas has NEVER been out of meta for more than 1 month since release, whether as a bruiser, burst mage or full tank.
