Is one-tricking a bad thing?

Title. ^

A little background. I've been playing since season 1, and I've always been a gold baddie. Between g1-3 mainly. I use to main a bunch of different champions (Rene, Akali, Graves, Malphite, Quinn, Hecarim, Vi, Azir to name a few) but this season I swapped over to one-tricking with Warwick after he was reworked. I've gotten to plat because of this, and I am currently sitting at a 63% winrate with 130 games and a 3.29 KDA average. Essentially, if I spam him I climb.

Is this a bad thing? Am I crippling myself from climbing higher? Most of my friends in plat/diamond are in the same boat with the likes of Jax, Lucian/Jinx/Kalista, thresh, etc.

I would say that I have above average skill in most lanes, but these days I can't seem to carry and end up tilting/feeding. So should I keep one-tricking?

Well one tricking is a double edged sword. Yes you end up getting so skilled and experienced with that champ you can just focus on the game and thus win more. The problem is when something happens rather it is banned, you get auto filled, or that champ wont work for a team comp you get into a shitty situation. (As someone that mained zed since season 3 with over 2k games peaking at plat 3 i know how things can go down). There will be rough patches where the champ isnt as good, bad patches, bad metas, bad situations, or just the elo in general. You need to have back ups you can play just as good or almost as good in a few roles just in case. Others wise when that time comes you will fall down alot of elo trying to learn these champs that you have to learn to play. (for example this patch is murder on AD casters and zed is like a paper weight so now im forced to stop one tricking and play others ive learned over the years.)

So to answer your question: Yes but in your spare time do practice other champs you enjoy untill you are at the level of your warwick

Annie Bot is a challenger on Annie one-trick. There are various Diamond one-tricks. It shouldn't hold you back, unless your goal is an LCS where they can ban you out. In Queue people can't target your one-trick.

its not really a bad thing if you find the champ fun and it works but you should have more knowledge on more champs seeing if they take ww first or ww gets banned then you are left with in a game with high skill players with a champ you don't know that well

Maining a small handful of champs is the easiest way to improve.

It's always a gamble. If your champ gets ne(absolutelyfuckingfucked)rfed by, say, a cla(levelofincompetenceIhaveneverbeforeseen)ss update, then yeah you're fucked

I don't think you should force yourself to be a onetrick. Be a onetrick if you enjoy one champion so much you can keep playing them over and over.
