Just read something on pbe about how current targon execute effect will proc if done in melee range?

Not sure what you're referring to on the PBE, but as it is (and how it's been since almost its release) only melee basic attacks proc the Execute damage, but even Ranged benefit from the heal/gold share as long as they last hit.

Ah right misread it, but it did give me the idea of letting ranged champions gain the execute effect if done within melee range? Sounds reasonable.

It's an idea, but not how it currently functions. Personally I wouldn't find it to be a good idea. Ranged supports are typically AP, and 2 out of the 3 support items fit quite well with them.

Hp regen/HP is pretty low on the list as a stat that ap supports would want early on. The shield active isn't worth compared to the other 2 for ap supports

Agreed, which is what I said. Sorry if I didn't get that across in my previous post.

ahh misunderstood the earlier post, off the top of my head Thresh and Rakan would be the obvious benefactors to the change at least.

Agreed, those are the two tanks I considered as well. If they can find a good way to balance it so there's no unforeseeable abuse to be had, i'm certainly interested.

I really want rakan with relic stacks. Double the shield would be fun. it may make him not insta die in teamfights

No, which is why Thresh has to do without it.
