@Meddler: Could there be a "turn target ally invisible" effect at some point in the future?

darkdill··4 votes·560 views

While Ivern kinda does this with Brushmaker, it isn't quite the same as the new Invisibility if your opponent uses something that reveals terrain. That said, I have heard a lot of feedback that putting a stealth-on-ally effect into the game could make Malphite, Amumu, etc., completely broken.

But what if along with this Invisibility, you also got Nearsighted? This means it'd be helpful for evasive moves and getting someone into the lane, but not broken when used by Malphite since he can't target with his ult as easily. And just to reduce abuse cases more, it'd be a case of "attacking or using abilities or items ends the invisibility early".

Could this work?

This isnt Dota. Anything creative is “anti-fun”

Ivern bush mechanic disagrees.

I would LOVE IT. if someone like Akali Got a rework, and instead of her W being a grounded shroud, it was a shroud that followed her, and she could shroud her allies in it, and they can move with her invisible, would be freaking amazing. can you imagine the plays? outta no where a team comes out of invisibility. of course being its nature and extreme possibility of it being OP.

Shroud duration = 4 seconds? maybe? just enough time to move into position

But while inside, everyone is suppose to be nearsighted, meaning they can't see beyond the AoE...

Also, giving Akali the ability to turn allies invis limits the future possibility of supports who can turn allies invis.

It would be hillarious to find a nunu ulting without you noticing

This is ultimately the problem with OP's request. Their are way to many potential abuse cases.

Especially if the person your going to turn invisible is going to be your main engage. (I was thinking an invisible Illaoi moving into the enemy 5 man squad and ulting)

The invisibility would be a case of "this invisibility breaks if the affected target attacks or uses an ability". So you'd need to cloak Nunu AFTER he ults, or he'll break the effect.

Also, the one who is turned invisible gets Nearsighted, which reduces their vision range (think Graves, Nocturne or Quinn). This way, if your enemies know you're coming, they could bait you into traps.

It should work, but they need to have such an ability on the appropriate character...

I believe like way before her release, Lux was toyed around with having this. Her W would have granted stealth to her and anyone it hit, but the stealth got replaced by a shield.

Lux, Bard, Ivern, and I forgot who else were tried for it. So they had a lot of times clarify that it was broken.

rip Lux stealth.

I honestly think it'd be an interesting mechanic. But it would be too hard to balance around with how it effects other champions.

That's why I have the Nearsighted part. It prevents powerful initiators from using their ults accurately so as not to make them overpowered.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Nearsight isn't going to affect my galio at all.

darkdill1 votes

Another hindrance to the stealth users could be that the enemy gets a warning icon ala Rengar. It tells them "someone's cloaked, get ready!", so if they don't see Galio, they (should) know to spread out.

It would be easier if you asked for camo'ing allies instead of stealth, cause it's not going to work.

I can already reliably ulti just due to stormraiders+E, if stelathed that makes proc'ing stormraiders just that much easier even with warning signs it's harder to react to than visibly seeing galio.

Camo on the other hand would be better cause wards and a frontliner can still counter it by gaining vision for it being too close, unlike stealth. So it would be far better to ask if granting camo would be in game in the future cause that I could actually see working.

This could be a fun mechanic, but it would also be broken beyond belief. There are too many champions who should just never have stealth. Imagine if Annie could just walk up to you and 5 man Tibbers stun from nowhere. Or Galio using his ult like that. Or Skarner just coming out of nowhere and kidnapping your ADC. The ability would be pretty impossible to balance without making it suck. I hope in the future there could be a way this could be added but as of right now it wouldn't be a good addition

That's why I added the Nearsight side effect. Nearsight is the effect you get when hit by Graves' Smoke Grenade, Nocturne's Paranoia, or Quinn's Blinding Assault. This means you can't see what's going on around you, and your dive could end up being you walking into an ambush or your enemy could split and make you miss that Tibbers ult.

Interesting idea.

Probably on a support champ, so?

It was deemed too broken all 3-5 times they tested it. So no.

If that's the case then that has to have a really long cooldown.

Definitely. I'd have all sorts of drawbacks to such a powerful skill.
