Actually, the on-hit damage from Sated Devourer was kind-of a big factor in the item. 60 on-hit damage is nothing that should be overlooked, especially with Phantom Hit effectively giving 50% more to that.
Phantom Hit on Guinsoo's is a lot less obnoxious/dangerous, for a variety of reasons:
- It is gated behind a 3600 gold cost and a somewhat crappy build path
- It is also gated with the fact that it has AP - and a lot of it, too.
and
do not have ANY AP scaling, meaning that the completed item is 1600 gold without stacks for them, which is 44.4% gold efficiency.
- The third gating effect is the fact that you need to attack 6 times before you get the Phantom Hit effect.
- And fourth, you need a kit-intrinsic or another item-centered on-hit effect to make the most out of Rageblade - the 15 basic on-hit damage of Rageblade will not really cut it in that department.
Playing with it on the PBE, it actually feels rather weak on melee champions, due to the loss of the permanent 25% AS on completion. I seriously expect them to add that to the basic item again at some point, moving power away from the stacking (25% base AS, 4%/stack for 49% total instead of 8/stack for 28% total).
Although I am also fairly certain that they will add the range/melee distinction back at some point - otherwise,
&
will probably break the item.
