I see those sion buffs. But why shield damage?

That is the strangest thing to buff on him, since no one maxes the shield until last anyway since his greatest power is in his early-mid game where he can bully around opponents with his damage and roam to get his team ahead with his damage from eq and rqe.

So is this a late game buff? Sion falls off late, and an additional 30 damage isn't doing much at 5-6 items anymore.

If this was intended to get sion to max w more, I don't think it will work. His w isn't maxed because his other 2 abilities both do more damage on average, and cost a lot less mana on average.

Better changes to the shield would be something more like shield damage changed to 8/10/12/14/16% damage, or 7/9/11/13/15% (also possibly 8/10/12/14/16%) shield which would make maxing w a more viable option. Also you could just reduce the mana cost to 50/55/60/65/70.

Personally I prefer my e max into q max sion because the damage is actually reliable, but I'm willing to try w max second it first if some changes like these went through.

Something else you might want to change to make e max less of a dominant play style is make the slow a flat percent so maxing it doesn't make it easier to land a q earlygame allowing qw to be more effective, but still preserving e max for bad matchups with damage and farming potential.

Whatever you do I'm pretty sure flat damage on w isn't really gonna cut it.

I max Q last in my games on Sion. E first and sometimes even W first, depending on opponent/game.

Same. W I always max second because it's my tanking ability that I need in teamfights. Q max just gives more damage, which I don't need unless I can hit it reliably. His knock up doesn't scale after all.

Jungle Sion is the only place I max Q first.

According to op.gg q>w>e max has the second lowest win rate of all skill max orders

So is E>W>Q the lowest?

It's just how I tend to play Sion and it works out well for me, especially if I find myself behind because it helps me be situationally tanky.

Level e first then e>q>w is lowest. That's very specific though.

Maxing q second gives more damage on squishies and therefore improves your roaming. W max is only good for certain lane matchups where you need to damage bulky champions or when you have fallen behind.

I max Q first, then W, then E. I disagree with people who max E first. Maxing Q makes you have a stronger presence and provides much better wave clear. It also makes you have mich stronger duels in lane. This seems like a mid-game buff to me.

Maxing Q however allows your opponent to mess with you more (you can stand basically in Sion and dodge it).

Maxing E allows you to poke from a good distance and clear waves with a little AP.

"Stronger presence" in a lane with Q means your opponent is not trying to move out of it.

I don't try to dominate in lane when I go Sion. I usually just try to get as much farm as possible while making sure not to die. Maxing Q lets me clear the wave easily and even a level 1 E allows you to get a good Q hit on them unless they are directly on top of you, upon which you can just W. Usually when I play Sion O try to use his Q when the enemy has already used their dash when I am using it offensively. Plus, if I am going for kills early, I usually will be trying for surprise roaming kills through my R from the base or down river. Maxing Q makes these ganks all the more devastating.

We might just be playing two different styles of Undead Juggernaut.
