Still wondering how you should be playing the new Vel'Koz? Try tank.

Sounds crazy, I know.. but since they overloaded everything into his passive and ult, you can successfully build tank and still achieve the damage you're used to as Vel'koz, and you don't have to risk death every time you go in to combo someone. And since you're all true damage, you don't have to worry with many damage focused items.

item 3027 item 3065 item 3110 item 3151 item 3083 and your boot of choice.

You may ask yourself why Visage? I take it mainly for the health and CDR but the Ocean's Drake passive is enhanced by it as well. You may be skeptical, but try it out.

I'm sure it's great on someone like lux too!! Because of all the damage she gets just from her passive procs.

Not...

Build him full ap. In fact ap is probably better on him now than it was before. Before getting magic pen was pretty nice, and perhaps it still is, but his scaling on passive and ult make high ap items more appealing. So why you would want to build a long ranged mage tank is behind me.

i would just iceborn sunfire and spirit visage... riot refuses to nerf any of them and any champ is broken and near unkillable with the combo of the 3.

i used pretty much that same build during OfA, except an iceborn instead of frozen. S-rating.

This would have worked better back before he was so dependent on AP ratios but even then full tank vel is and was a waste. Played properly most opponents can't get past the waves of spam anyways.
