Am I the only one who is Happy about Yi alpha bug?

Like Yush!! Now you can hit that champion everytime he goes into Alpha Finally. Alpha strike wisely now! Makes me want to play Master Yi, I can finally call him Master Yi instead of just Yi because I will master the way of alpha strike.

Sorry i'm late to the party but-

...what bug?

Some abilities are able to hit Yi while in alpha strike, like a Riven ult or sometimes a well placed Thresh hook. There's a video of Cowsep giving examples of it somewhere, idk where. In any case, I agree, Yi should be able to be hit while in alpha, it's technically not like he's disappearing, he's just faster than the eye can see, so Yi technically should be still hit by AoE's and stuff. Not all MasterYi player's would agree with me, though.

"I WAS IN ALPHA"

I should rephrase, I only mean AoE's, like Kennen's Slicing Maelstrom or Amumu's Ult, or if Wukong's ulting, and Yi hits him stuff like that. If he's in the area for that moment he should still get hit by it, not thresh hooks or ahri charms or amumu bandage toss.

You know how Yi is supposed to be entirely untargetable while blinking through Alpha Strike? Yeah, that's not working sometimes. Cowsep (a Diamond 1 Korean Yi main) released a video about it.

Something also apparently happened to his windup animation. He's always had this problem; if the opponent breaks line of sight in the tiny fraction of a second it takes for Yi to blink, Yi will blink for an instant but won't follow the enemy. Sometimes this even breaks his Meditate, and he won't be able to cast it for a few seconds. Recently however, it seems to be that that particular issue is popping up more than before.

He seems very salty just by the look of the video. I mean he has to adapt to that bug if he call himself Master Yi Main, it should not be difficult for him.

TehNACHO3 votes

The problem is that it's the primary tool for using Yi at a Diamond level. As a melee carry, that blink is his primary form of defense. Take it away and it's no different than a Bronze Yi doing, well anything really.

That and the bug is inconsistent. The majority of the time it works as intended, but because of Yi's "Do or die" play style, the few times it does fail really bites into Yi's performance. It's especially lame given how bad humans are at adapting to inconsistent outcomes.

I don't think that bug is really impactful just by the look of Yi's Winrate in diamond and higher. He has a popularity of 9.21% and a win rate of 51.6%. As of Jan 5/2016. If they fix the bug I would expect his winrate to rise to around 55%.

TehNACHO2 votes

If you think the bug isn't impactful, you shouldn't assume that fixing it would shove Yi's win rate up by 3-4% (^ ^)

taleofsonata1 votes

Last time I checked was when Yi didn't have that bug and it was in a post of someone showing the current winrate where Volibear/zyra/Zilean had the highest winrate. Yi winrate was at 54.3%.

You should not need to have to adapt to bugs. The bugs should be fixed if they are as prevalent as that

So you mean Riven's animation cancelling should be fixed and we shouldn't have to deal with it?

Tell that shit to Riot.

taleofsonata2 votes

On Riven part Riot said they intended that. Remember the bug with Zed that made him super strong ? Riot removed that His bug was with his shadows where he could send invisble shadow shuriken.

Crossette1 votes

Riot didn't intend it, it was a bug and they decided to keep it because it "wasn't harming" anything.

TehNACHO3 votes

Do realize that every champion in the game is capable of animation canceling, Riven's 'cooldown' animations just happened to be designed in such a way to abuse it the most. You'd need to overhaul coding that could potentially bug every champion in the game to fix Riven's animation cancels.

Not to say that they should keep it, but it's a harder problem to fix than just that.

Crossette1 votes

I know it's a massive coding clusterfuck that Riven takes advantage of, but this has been a thing for quite some time.

I'm fine with it being a thing, I just see too many people losing to Riven that it makes me kind of wish she didn't exist in her current state.

taleofsonata1 votes

Well I can't say much about Riven because I never have any problem with those champion. I mean sure Riven can abuse it but you can still beat her. It comes down to the player anyway. I know alot of people have trouble laning vs Riven but for me I have no problem playing any champion with her because I run specific Runes when I fight her. Such as Armor/Hp yellow and flat armor Glyph.

Crossette1 votes

If you fight a good Riven, she can and will 100-0 you at level 6. (of course, depending on your champion and build)

Sure you can take armor, but her damage output and chase together are insane.

Ward hops. Animation canceling. Triple sated. Zed Q doing double damage for his R.

All bugs which people have adapted to and should be fixed, but arent because "its a feature". If its a feature, why cant braum ward hop? Why cant jax animation cancel anymore? Why does triple sated even work to begin with? Why is zed allowed to have double damage on his death mark from Q, randomly?

taleofsonata1 votes

Don't forget Alistar can AA after his W anymore.

ModWulf Helhammer3 votes

First: what's triple stated?

Ward hops may have been a bug at the beginning, but no have become thing, and are intended. They have stated that the reason Braum doesn't ward hop is because it doesn't fit with his theme

If by Zed Q doing double damage, you mean it hitting you twice, I don't see why that's a bug.

For animation canceling, on certain champions it creates no chance to avoid thugs (such as Zed having invisible shurikins). On others it just gives them the ability to do the same thing they also do, but slightly faster.

taleofsonata1 votes

I think the bug with Zed Q is because Zed shadow is suppose to do reduced damage of the real Q but during his ult zed shadows start doing the whole damage of a normal Zed Q. Perhaps the bug is Caused by Black cleaver, where consecutive abilities reduce his enemie armor and maybe Zed Ult applies the full stacks of armor shreds.

At specific attack speeds above 2.0 (2.3 or around there i think) you can get two sated to proc at once.

Ward hopping isnt a "thematic" thing. Its a bug and not a feature; Braum should be able to ward hop because everyone else with a similar ability can. A ward is an ally too.

Occasionally zeds Q will hit you once but count twice for his R; i dont know what causes it but 2/10 times it worked in personal testing.

you don't "adapt" to bugs, you get them reported so they can get fixed lol

The difference between a good and bad yis are ones that can alpha strike at critical moments
