Gameplay is entirely wrong about balance.
Every single day, I see the same arguments made.
"League sucks now." "It's the worst it's ever been." "There's too much broken stuff to ban."
Flat out, you guys are wrong. Sorry, but I'm sick and tired of seeing these false arguments. Let me explain why so that maybe it'll make sense as to why I'm so frustrated with seeing these posts every day.
#Argument #1: Balance was never this bad. Completely wrong. League has gone through countless cycles of balance and unbalance. In fact there have been obscene periods where there are only about three-to-four good champions per role. Now, by comparison, there are tons of viable picks for most roles. Sure, there's still some meta icing on the top of the pro cake but it's certainly not as bad as people make it out to be.
Balance, right now, isn't perfect. But take a look at stuff like the LCS and LCK. There's some pretty decent diversity in roles Riot has changed like mage or ADC, showing that there's plenty of characters worth picking even if 2-3 rise to the top. What people are projecting is a disappointment in having several things be viable and/or worth picking. SPEAKING OF:
#Argument #2: There's too much stuff to ban. While I agree that yes, we need more bans (DOTA draft system plz), a more balanced game will always have too much stuff to ban. A solid 40% of the cast is worth banning due to power, utility or otherwise. Even with 20 bans, you'd still miss stuff. More importantly, as with previous seasons, people have ONLY banned the tippy top of the meta and the stuff that's most egregious. Thus it feels like there's "too much to ban" because so much is good right now.
As I often argue: If every single champion was worth picking, people would complain that the game is unbalanced because there's too much to ban.
#Argument #3: Riot reworks things for no reason. This argument especially steams my beans because one of the most problematic things about League was the massive overlap of characters. Old Fiora was just Yi with breasts. Old Sejuani was Amumu on a boar. Darius is pretty much Garen. It's apparent that we've all gotten too accustomed to the status quo because when Riot even thinks about touching a character, for better or worse, people screech that they're fine.
News Flash: They're not. Your favorite character probably overlaps incredibly heavily with 3-4 other characters so whoever is best is just who you pick. I love Vi but I'll completely admit she's often in a bidding war between J4 and Lee Sin as to who is the best diver-bruiser. More often than not, she loses those battles. (PS: Vi/J4/Lee was also the old trinity of junglers who were always picked because they were all that was worth picking.) It's incredible how even veterans will argue against reworks like they forgot everything.
#Argument #4: Attributing something else to balance problems. Dynamic Queue is separate from balance. Your anger at the lack of sandbox isn't related to balance. "My garbage teammates" isn't at all a balance problem. So many people are likely just hating on the core game because of outside factors. You want to be disappointed? I completely understand. But "MUH BAD TIME IN QUEUES" is not a problem with balance.
Most importantly of all, no, our opinions don't matter. Hell, even for all the stuff I'm saying I don't have exactly the most clairvoyant eye for balance. That said, one can see that there's some major changes for the better actually happening and evidence is already being presented in things like the LCS or LCK. Please stop trying to argue balance is the "worst its ever been" because there are some terrible states of balance in old seasons that everyone wishes they could go back to. Is it perfect now? No, but it's certainly not the worst it's ever been.
