Remember when morgana was considered a mid laner

R.I.P. mid lane...

It's due to a few things.

1. Morg doubly struggles against mobile champs. One, they naturally will spend less time in her W, and two, they can dodge her Q more readily. Mid lane has a lot of mobile mages and artillery, which Morgana has difficulty against. She won't LOSE, true, but she won't win, either - and she's not a late game powerhouse.

2. In bot lane, her AP doesn't scale her utility. Most bot laners don't do enough magic damage to break her shield, which means she gets all the deliciousness of a 3 second root combined with a CC immunity without needing to throw AP at it. She can build full support if she wants.

3. Even as a "safe mage," she was too safe, so they nerfed her W's damage in order to cut down on her ability to run up, W, and hide behind turret while still getting full CS.

She's not a bad mid, she's just... not good. If you remotely know what you're doing you won't feed with her, but you also won't carry a team - which makes her less popular these days.

I still use her mid. Probably throws people off since they don't see her mid much. She has good wave clear, damage and team fight potential. Plus I like to have her shield for not only myself, but my team. So I kind of act like a secondary support and it helps a whole lot. Of course, that depends on the team comp.

It's because her main combo is kinda hard to pull off fully in midlane. Q+W then chain your ult to stun them again after Q wears off to make sure they keep standing in W. Or you Ult to root, W, then Q once your Ult wears off.

Her kit requires her to chain her own cc, which is fairly hard to do. That's why her E allows her to ignore CC- to get in range for the ult.

She was a fantastic counterpick to Fizz back when he terrorized mid lane. I made that fish cry. He throws his ult? Throw up the shield. He jumps towards you? Use your ult and watch him frantically E to try and escape. Once he's used his E and it caught by your ult- Q him. Being untargetable doesn't stop your W damage. And you can outpush him as well.

I'm not saying shes a bad mid laner or anything ; but now most people identify her as support.

Her W got nerfed quite a bit for being extremely potent at clearing waves, and thus forcing tons of pressure on her opponent without them being able to do much. She also carried a ton of CC and survivability, which basically made her a never-bad choice for mid.

Now, because of her solid DPS and AFK-inducing snare, she's played as a support more.

Riot shifts her power mainly around the support. She's still viable-ish midlane but her kit is pretty much outdated as a midlaner (just like her sibling) We can still wait her dual rework with Kayle to see her midlane, still waiting for that Hex Witch idea that they had for Taliyah.

Because she is absolute trash tier in a midlane

well look at her, her W is hilariously easy to move out, her R dosent slow enough to make you stay in range unless morgana follow you during the duration, her shield is strong against CC more than against magic damage itself, is all about that powerful Q draining all her power budget

if the enemy midlaner force the wave to move forward the minions dont stay on your W making it a weird wave clear, she really need that rework

She can still do good in mid. Full Ap it's just Q+W in a squishy for an easy kill.

Try her top lane. She's actually really good up there if you already have a tank jungle or support.

she'll be good mid again too if laning phase is ever like an hour long again lol

Remember when Sona was a mid laner?

She is a terrible support.

I think it's mainly cuz you can't carry a game on her as mid, or at least it's not as easy as other mid laners. After the nerf to her w and removal of spell vamp from most parts of the game, her passive isn't as good as it used to be either.
