A New Tier 5 Mastery for the Defense Tree to replace the current Legendary Guardian:

Damage dealt to your champion from all sources your champion is facing is reduced by 2.5/5/7.5/10%. This damage reduction does not affect damage taken from non-skillshot AoE abilities, and only stacks multiplicatively with other sources of % damage reduction (Alistar/Maokai's ultimate).

Essentially it's as if your champion now has a shield that they're holding out in front of them. It encourages you to face whoever you're fighting.

I.E. You're fighting a Master Yi; You hold your ground and autoattack him as he stays stationary and autoattacks you; you take reduced damage (even from his true damage). You're running away from an AP carry who stuns you. Their team follows up with more hard CC and you get burst for full damage. You're chasing a Caitlyn and she hits you with her net as she autoattacks you; you continue to chase her. You take reduced damage. You're farming in lane and a Shaco backstabs you from stealth. You take full damage. As you and your teammates run, you turn around and bodyblock a spear from a Nidalee that was chasing your team. You take reduced damage.

The jungle essentially deals 10% less damage to you.

In a heated teamfight you're peeling your team from a Tryndamere who has Statikk Shiv and Tiamat. You take reduced damage from him as he's autoattacking your team, but the enemy Graves dashes behind you; you Exhaust the Tryndamere and turn and start chasing Graves. He starts attacking you and you take reduced damage as you're attacking him. Then Teemo unstealths behind you and shoots you in the back for full damage. In order to give Graves the kill you turn to face Teemo to reduce his poison damage.

We all know that tanks need better dueling abilities. No amount of armor and MR items is enough and they don't need more damage but they need a way to reduce the damage from threatening sources without dedicating their entire build to dealing with it.
