Wit's End Redesign for Divers and Skirmishers

##Wit's End

  • (melee only)
  • Recipe: Hexdrinker + Kircheis Shard + 600 Gold = 2700 Gold
  • 30 Attack Damage
  • 25% Attack Speed
  • 40 Magic Resistance
  • Passive: Moving and attacking will make an attack Energized.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Energized Strike: Your Energized Strikes deal (50 -- 120) (+25% bonus Magic Resistance) bonus physical damage. Against enemy champions, additionally grants a shield for 3 seconds that absorbs up to (50 -- 120) (+25% bonus Magic Resistance) magic damage (10 second cooldown).

It's meant for Divers and Skirmishers when in lane against Mages or against enemies that have a lot of magic damage. Compared to Maw of Malmortius it is cheaper, has more burst damage, but offers less survivability on its own. It's meant for auto attack reliant champions rather than spell based Fighters.

The cooldown on the magic damage shield means you need to survive for 10 seconds until you get your next shield, so you need Health or need to be slippery in order to make the most of it. Champions who attack a lot and can charge it up quickly shouldn't be able to abuse it (like if Yi were to buy it and get continuous magic shields in between untargetable Qs).

Again compared to Maw, it doesn't help against being bursted from afar from the likes of Lux or Sydra because you need to attack them in order to get the shield. It encourages diving in. So maybe if you have Hexdrinker and are falling behind you should rather get Maw?

Actually I love the idea and I don't even play top. I think what I would actually do is lower the magic resistance it gives from 40 to... 25 or 20 perhaps, and then add %tenacity. Imo not enough items give tenacity (Merc Treads... and what else again?), and for divers who want to attack fast, a fully built item that helps them with this AND gives them some tenacity so they don't get CCed to death would be really cool. Great concept though!

It's designed for on-hitters, not divers...and what is this melee only circlejerk, like legit i can't understand all this whine about adcs "abusing" duskblade as well, since they getting deleted(literally for 0,5 secs) without even being able to do one aa.And i can remeber only few melee champs who can use this item well, the most of it is ranged...

It was designed for Fighters and then updated when Malady was removed to better suit magic damage based Fighters and/or Fighters that buy Sunfire Cape, but now it's just outdated. It's incredibly niche and bought by two groups: magic damage on-hit champions like Kayle, Kog'Maw, Teemo, and Fighters like Shyvanna, Irelia, Shen, Warwick.

Since the on-hitters have other, better items to turn to, ones that were actually designed for them (Nashor's Tooth, Guinsoo's Rageblade), a redesign should be targeted at Wit's End original group, the Fighters. The closest thing to the old Fighters were currently have are Skirmishers and Divers (and Freight Train Juggernauts, like Olaf and Trundle, I guess). And since those are exclusively melee, it shouldn't be a problem that the item is melee only as well. The on-hitters wouldn't want it anymore anyways.
