this is the build I moslt play but according to probuilds.net and champion.gg people prefer going full tank.
Darius isnt a frontliner champ and he sucks as a tank since his skillset is most likely ad-tanky-carry.
what are your thoughts?

As a core, and for good reason. The BC is all the damage you need to do ur job. It stacks ur passive and shreds them really hard with ur Q. SV helps you heal on Q, deadmans gives u MS and extra dmg on autos and ofc hp/armor. Mercs help keep u from getting kited. After these items its generally situational. (not saying u get build other items first, but these 4 are really strong on him) 
etc all good choices. The idea that you need to build damage on darius to do damage is flawed. The longer he stays in a fight the more damage he will do. And generally, BC is all you need in terms of damage.

is very good when up against AP. huge sustain boost and the passive spellvamp applies to his ult, which will makes him very hard to kill if the shield pops
underrated item in general, people don't build this enough
strong anti-burst item, especially combined with Maw (don't build DD if you get both of these)
tbh I'd prefer this to Titanic since it benefits from your passive activating and has half the cooldown. I don't really build either of the Hydras, but if you really wanted Tiamat item I'd take this for the sustain and AD.

if you need more armor and health, Randy's for crit champs, Sunfire for casters
is strong as a first item vs squishy champs, provided you get ahead. another underappreciated pick, but often too pricey to justify getting over cleaver.

There are some champs, even if you do not play them as a tank they become naturally tank like mundo-singed-malphite-nautilus-skarner- OLD SHEN etc etc, due to their skillset. Darius has to be in the center of the fight to heal himself and hit as many as champions he can, he doesnt have any gap closer and kinda slow so his CC are not that much powerfull unless you flash pull 2-3 people. To be a tank you must have some utility, full build Vi is not a tank she is a tanky diver. But full build singed is tank even if you go 3khp 400 ap he is still tank because he does his job, take the attention on him, heals himself, strong CC's can be game-changer etc. About the ulti true damage, well, to use darius in his most potential, you have to kill 2-3 people in a fight which makes a champ not tank but an offtank ad carry. Ashouldn't take the kills(mostly he cant have enaugh damage to do that) unless securing the kill.
PS. Dyrus was playing darius only if there is a tank in the team and he explained why, "Darius isnt a tank even if you build him tanky he still is a fighter."
Flaherty1 votesbeing in the center of a fight is kind of the tank's job isn't it? To soak up damage as people attack you. Darius can stay alive more easily in the middle of a fight because he gets more healing from more people. Also none of those champions work as tanks unless you build them like tanks. Full AP malph/naut/skarner aren't going to last long in any fight because their shields scale with hp (yes skarner's shield also scales with ap but you need to build a lot of it for it to be worth anything). Mundo's only natural tankiness comes in the form of health regen and singed only gets extra health from mana and mediocre stat boosts while using his ult.

I prefer BC, DD, followed by tank items.
My normal build in platinum 1 ranked is: BC, defense boots, randuins, spirit visage, Deaths Dance, and zzrot/guardian angel
The hydras are a noob trap that many darii fall into.
