Is it time to re-think the workings of the "Relic Shield"?

Been looking at the tank supports lately (both on my own summoner account and on other players). And it looks like this particular class of "supports" are at times even outperforming the AD carries - to the detriment of the carry's performance. (And, I am saying this as a support main.)

I thought that this was unique to Leona Leona and ThreshThresh - but I saw similar results with Maokai Maokai and Tahm Kench TahmKench .

I had a hard time putting my finger on it but I'm starting to think that the cause of the problems are due to the tank's "need to feed" to trigger the relic shield's effects item 3302 .

So here's the question: Is it time to re-design how the relic shield works? And what sort of process could replace it that would make the tanks more support-y and less competing with the person who is supposed to be playing the carry?

This has 0 ideas for a change, no opinions on why you think it is Op. (which is clearly isn't), no nothing. All I saw is how you think supports out class the ADC, and the reasoning is because of a single item. I call bullshit, the only way a support will outclass the ADC, is if the support is actually good, and knows how to truly play support.

Um does OP not know that relic shield shares gold with the carry? If anything it is almost too good with heal+safe income advantage.

I'd like to see what happens if they let Ranged champions Proc the Spoils stacks. Previously, it was stated that people were worried Carries and supports would double up on it, and it would be completely oppressive. With the heal nerfed pretty hard (which is fine really), it is likely not super oppressive. Morde and a support double--upping Relic shield was far from oppressive (Morde was just oppressive, then the marksman update happened).

It's worth trying out in post-season and see if it changes much. It might open up some other support picks/playstyles (What's a Galio?). Post-season would be a good time to test it and see what happens.

That's what it used to do, it just made bot lane a passive easy farm fest. Sure it was with a shorter cool down but the same heal amount, it made getting CS easy and early pushing hard.
