Seriously I don't get it. I'll try to go for a short trade and even if I dodge everything, he matches the trade with just his passive damage, and if he holds his W I can never all-in because he heals for 50% of his hp even through grievous wounds. With his passive + Q he can outshove me easily, so getting priority is a pain in the ass which makes finding opportunities to roam incredibly difficult.
I'm just struggling to find a good laning strategy against him.

for the healing, make sure you throw it on him before he w's you.
Other than that, I'd imagine that can be a rough lane for Kat since he generally builds tanky and has solid CC for Kat.
Play for CS if you can't kill him, wait for ganks....push and roam.
On My Kill List1 votessylas is a melee battle mage.( or ap bruiser ) a basically non existent class. so yeah. basically what release diana was before all of her nerfs. and old katarina who was much much stronger then nu-katarina that your playing now struggled really really hard against her for much of the same reasons. in the first place you should never pick someone like katarina against sylas as he's 99% of the time going to beat you. its much like picking lux into yasuo. some champs you just wont' beat. sylas is both tanky/beefy has his own massive sustain. he is not the sort of champion katarina preys upon.(squishy often immobile ranged mages) there isn't anything you can really do.

basically, he can't all in you but if you do, he'll out trade you super hard (even under Grievous Wounds and if you hit 2 daggers +2-3 autos)
so just ignore him, you might have a chance to roam better than him and your early 2v2s aren't too bad
BluewolfOfire1 votesI play on eu west and im not a high rank however. I am able to beat low rank sylas with kata. The builds are most likely totaly dif however. Its all about out manoeuvring him, getting just into range and drop w to evade woth ms boost, shunpoing behind his chains always works nice aslong as you have dagger lined up to reset, dont just jump to your dagger straight away as a landing point. Its in range to set up your counter.
Best advice is to play as him 10 15 rounds tp get a good feel of him yourself. Think iv only lost 1 time as kata vs sylas early on, by end game i out played and got gold faster. Let sylas roam but make sure other laners drop back to waste his time while you wave clear and roam to other lanes as he is coming back.
