How do I gank/fight against a Heimer? is there a proper way at all?

Well I've been playing for a couple of years but I still hate Heimer over Teemo but that's personal preference, I enjoy playing jungle and I can't tell you how many times I've tried to gank a heimer and both my mid and I died. I'm not saying he can't be ganked, it's just that I find it incredibly hard to gank him and even he dies in the process he still usually gets a kill from his turrets after death.

I feel bad for my mid laner because on one hand I tell him "Hey I can't really gank him because we will just feed him" but on the other hand "I don't like just ignoring my mid lane as it gets destroyed" I'm genuinely and honestly asking for advice on how to properly fight/gank him because it's very frustrating fighting against him in general.

I've been told he sucks in a team fight but popping his ulty in a team fight can be pretty strong especially since the big turret hits multiple people, unless you destroy it quickly or somehow CC him before he can get it off. I'm guessing champions with strong CC are really the only way to take him down, or if you are playing a tanky jungler who can take the damage.

I'm talking more about squishier champions such as Shaco who die pretty quickly, honestly I was playing Shaco during my last game against Heimer and found it almost impossible to gank him.

Well no one has mentioned it yet, but Viktor mid lane.... Unless his turrets are really spread out you can 1 hit all three of them with one augmented E, He throws his 'nade, you drop gravity field, he's stunned when you unstun(lol?) then finally he starts to shoot rockets Q the closest thing to you and get your shield up, it'll take a lot of the dmg, and you have a empowered AA comin his way. Heimer mid lanes are really fun with Viktor.

When I'm mid against a Heimer, I get angry when my jungler attempts to gank for me... because he should know it's a bad idea...

You can't dive Heime, before cleaning his turrets. Burst him or avoid the skillshots. You can't expect to live as squishy assasin vs high burst mage. Tank junglers can dive him + cc, while the laner can kill him. I've recently had a game with Heime top + Brand mid in my team. They basically 2v5 the enemy team the whole game after I ganked them in the early game (I was afk farming the jungle the whole time after seeing that they are ok)

Have your jungler and your support gank at the same time. That way, you have enough damage to get him before his turrets do much.

You just have to clear his turrets out. If he has three turrets up, it's gonna be hard as hell to gank him, so have your midlaner clear out at least two of them - you can safely gank Heimer if he's only got one tower up.

My best success versus heimer was as syndra. You can just pick up his turrets and throw them into river. You really don't have to do anything else as that will be a lot of his power wasted, and it even makes ganks easy. Also once you get to teamfights don't use your w until heimer ults. If he picks the mega turret pick it up and through it over a wall, he should stop bothering to use that turret and your front line should be able to easily dive him without worrying about that turret

Syndra mid Nunu jungle counters him. Just toss or eat the ult turret, problem solved. Sion can be good too because you can E the turrets away.

So I play mainly Heimer and while I feel dirty answering I am down to help out (just please don't gank the Heimer if it's me plz :P).

Ganking Heimer is an interesting proposition because it is the hardest and easiest thing to do at the same time. The problem is that he is often (almost always if you're me, thank you wards) over extended so he is enticing to gank. However, he takes a different style and more coordination to gank or you end up feeding.

There are a few things that you have to watch for. First minions matter more to your gank than most ganks. If the minion wave hits my turrets and kills one, you come i and smite another one, and then you both jump on me, I'm in trouble. It isn't often that I'll let minions kill a turret though w/out replacing it before you could get to me unless you're already on or across my ward(s) though so that won't happen often. More likely what you're looking for is for minions to trigger the lasers from my turrets and draw their aggro. Lasers pretty much always target champs if they can and they HURT. If you come in from behind and all my turrets have lasers up my lane opponent probably can't join you for the fight w/out dying. If they try I'll stun them w/ grenade and ult rockets them for the burst kill 9 times out of 10 and then 1v1 you w/ my turrets and minions and summoner spells. YOU HAVE TO LET MINIONS TAKE AGGRO FROM TURRETS BEFORE GANK SO THAT BOTH LANER AND JUNGLE CAN JUMP ON HEIMER AT THE SAME TIME.

Second, never gank heimer w/out your smite up. If you have one that hits me you need it for the extra burst so you can kill me and get out. If you don't have one for hitting champs you want it for one of my turrets. This leads to section 2 b. Heimer ganks need set up. If your laner and me are trading and they are killing my turrets and I'm replacing them (obviously this doesn't apply if I have them so pressured they can never kill my turrets w/out losing the trade so hard it isn't worth it) you need to work w/ your laner to time the gank so they drop at least one of my turrets before you enter lane. This way you can smite down a second turret if you aren't smiting me and suddenly I have 2 instead of 3 even if I immediately replace the turret you smite w/ a kit I'm holding. That lowers the damage against you.

Finally you need to have a plan and play to your strengths. If you have a tanky laner w/ a burst jungle have the lane take aggro right as you go in to hit me and burst me down w/ them like it is a tower dive. If you have a poke mid then they should be poking me and you can block the incoming wave of minions so your minions are the only ones in my turrets and distract them so you can get in close to engage without taking massive damage before you get to me. There are other combinations but basically think about how to remove Heimer's protection so you can get to him, or how to mitigate it so you can survive. If you get onto the Heimer he is usually dead bc we are squishy.

P.S. often it is about blowing summoners and coming back. I often run two defensive summoners and have had a lot of double kills where the jungle and lane engaged at slightly different times and I dropped ult q and then stunned one or both and ran to one side only to flash back to the middle of my turrets and run to the other side and get a double as lane and jungle ran back across my turrets chasing me only to die as I exhaust or heal and they realize they don't have the damage they expected to be able to chase me down and kill me after all. The good jungles and lanes just run out of the turrets when I flash back in, and come back after healing up a bit and kill me when I can't drag out the fight in my turrets and kill them.

I believe the only way to play against him is to play one of his many counters, sadly.

Had a game where i was Veigar against a heimer, it was a dream lane, but our gragas kept trying to gank, then trash talking me about my item build. Never having to worry about enemy ganks and having the ability to farm ap even after wave minions are cleared is like a dream come true for Veig.

Heimer is a counterpick, so he relies on you instalocking Zed/Katarina/Akali/Yasuo to work well, as a lot of other champions simply kill his turrets from afar and proceed to farm him.

Le Blanc, Xerath and Lux for example.

Heimer is such a weird champion. If you want to gank him, then the gank will also be weird. He's very reliant on his turrets for a lot of his damage, so when you gank, make sure you cut off his escape back to his turret (the large one in the middle of the lane, not the ones he builds). Take out his turrets if you want to avoid taking the massive damage, and try and avoid his grenade (E), since it feels very clunky. Shaco would have trouble ganking a Heimer, since the element of surprise isn't solely good enough to gank him.

If you are a tank jungler, wait until you have some HP or magic resist before you attempt to gank him. If you are an assassin or fighter jungler, make sure you ping because you are going to need help from your mid, try to approach heimer from behind, kill him as fast as possible, and get out ASAP.

Heimer will always be a b*tch to gank, it's just the nature of his kit. You just play it carefully.

When I lane against a Heimer I will always pick Garen. This is for two reasons:

  1. Garen is able to survive the lane if Heimer does well, and snowball if Heimer does poorly.
  2. I main Garen, so he is a bit of a safety pick.

I would personally recommend a safety pick whenever you go into a matchup you don't know very well. A safety pick is anyone you know like the back of your hand, regardless of whether they would be, on paper at least, good in the current situation. Knowing the champions kit so well will let you focus more on your opponent. Once you find a weakness you can exploit it and later apply it to future matchups against that opponent.
