I would like some context on the Riven Q changes on PBE

As of today's (1/16) PBE update: Broken Wings (Q) now auto cancels it's animation, allowing Riven to attack much faster after using Q. Context: Currently on live you can "fast combo" Riven's Q by clicking the ground immediately after using Q. This stops the Q animation early and allows you to auto attack much much faster than just hitting Q and waiting for the auto to go off naturally. This PBE change automatically cancels Q's animation which significantly speeds up your auto attack speed after using Q. (Source: surrenderat20).

As a Riven main, I kinda dislike this change. The only reason is that this will make her deep mechanics much more simplified, reducing Riven's skill cap significantly. Inexperienced players will effortlessly pull off something they aren't supposed to without practice.

Please share with me the context behind this change. Also what do you guys think about it?

As someone who doesn't play Riven, this SOUNDS like a borderline exploit getting the official OK from Riot instead of it being fixed, like ward hopping way back when.

However, the point is that this exploit is one of the hardest things to pull off, that even I mess it up most of the time. Players who were able to do this should like it since it just got easier. However, players who can't do it will just faceroll and pull it off, making Riven's skill floor and cap much lower. This might even mean that Riven will get more nerfs in the future too, which is why I'm annoyed.

soo true.. LOL! people will jst exploit this change and it will make non-riven players ask for more unecessary riven nerfs..

Hey Riot. I'm just dropping by to say thanks for this change to Riven. I can't wait till it hits live. :)

Im going to assume the idea is so they no longer have to worry about balancing 2 different extremes (Rivens who cant animation cancel, and Rivens that can).

So now they can freely change her damage and scaling without worrying that it will make the former Rivens obscenely overpowered (like when her Q used to do a lot more damage. great for rivens without animation cancelling, overpowered as fuck for those that could).

If this is the case, then this probably means that Riven nerfs are definitely incoming, since Rivens that can animation cancel are overpowered like you said. So now all Rivens will be overpowered, hence the incoming nerfs. This is why I dislike the change.

I was referring to a previous Riven. Not the current one.

Her Q used to do even more damage on hit, making being able to animation cancel overpowered. Now it is just her maximum damage, which isnt overpowered.

Honestly. I think this change is the only way to balance Riven. Skill Floor and Skill cap should not be based on Bad Controls, which is Precisely what this is. And Riot should not have to Balance Around Bad controls.

So basically they are allowing more players to weaving in autos without doing what riven mains have already been doing" It's essentially a buff lol. Riven buff im actually surprised they went this direction.
