it's not like he fucked up every champion he reworked rip rengar malz (got partially reverted) kog (got partially reverted) skarner garen and quinn

Hello I am Bird3 votes

Garen is better tbh I prefer new quinn to old imo

I miss old Quinn, but certainly that's partly because I was much better at her. No one expected the old Skystrike execute, and no one realized how strong her W passive steroid was. [slayer-jinx-catface]

Garen is pretty much the same he was before except for his ult which was already pretty strong before and now just feels unfair to play against (you are punished for playing well).

Garen is probably weaker now than he was before.

He has a gimicky ass mechanic that usually goes to the ADC towards mid-late which means nothing because garen will never reach them. His Q silence got ripped to shreds and his E is fucking garbage in lane.

He never had his passive reworked so it's still counters his own kit due to it's passive nature compared to his kit's aggressive all-in nature.

The only time garen is good is when the enemy frontline becomes the villain, otherwise he's such a forgettable champion.

Riot gave him a MASSIVE power budget increase FOR FREE in the form of the E buff which gives 25% shred after four ticks and garen still sucks ass, shouldn't that tell you something?

Atanchan1 votes

... What.

There has literally never been a time where Quinn's Q did magic damage and didn't have an AD ratio.

In fact, there's never been a time where anything on her kit did damage that wasn't magical and lacked an AD ratio. They had to add an AP ratio shortly after her release for her to even not be a champion with no AP scalings.

you're right, i thought it was magical damage with an ap ratio i withdraw what i said

It's a bodyblockable skillshot that only blinds the first target hit...

Not to mention it's got 1) 700 range, BUT if she uses it outside of auto range, she pops her R meaning she won't be able to catch up to you, Youmuu's isn't that great., so it's basically only got ~550 range. Popping her R with any damage or CC means she'll probably never get into range.

KoKoboto12 votes

You forgot the from range part and how you cannot avoid it at all aside from deep wards. Though due to her massive movement speed if you don't react near instantly to seeing her she's gonna get you.

Quinn before rework had a much more healthier playstyle in comparison to the current Quinn. She needs another rework that recognizes Valor as more than a taxi and also gets rid of her roam niche. It's niche but it's not interesting and it's not strategic and it's not fun.

Shuyin1782 votes

Her movement speed pre-rework was pretty much the exact same. In face her burst back then felt a lot better because as Valor you could just jump onto kids Akali style and destroy them.

KoKoboto2 votes

Movement speed is negligible because you're gated between 140/110/80 seconds of cooldown. She actually has more burst now because she can get harrier attacks off and has the same attack speed as Valor.

I prefer the new Quinn more but the frustration that Quinn is more due to players being unable to adapt to playing vs her than Quinn being op. Quinn did work like a global assassin but unlike assassins, she doesn't have any escapes like Talon R or juking ability of leblanc or zed. I like the new Quinn because you can do more than than just killing overextended adcs and can manipulate the map to your own advantage even when you don't get the chance to assassinate anyone.

KoKoboto5 votes

Frustration for both the player playing Quinn and the people going against Quinn do not involve adapting per se but with her greater lack of counter play. Quinn arguably was OP on release and was OP throughout the lethality meta if you ask me, but that's not important.

I would be fine with manipulating the map but Quinn's abilities to do so are unhealthy by design. Her ultimate is pretty much a be wherever you want to be, nothing more and nothing less. No strategic thought goes into it and there are little repercussions for screwing up as there is no cooldown. If you see a huge wave somewhere go for it, or if you want to start a slow push go ahead, it doesn't matter because you can be back with your team as soon as you are done doing whatever in the other lane.

No one can deny how unhealthy this iteration of Quinn is when compared to the old one for the reasons I mentioned earlier. Can be anywhere, insane MS, point click unavoidable burst damage from range coupled with her small yet powerful amounts of utility. I can just point back to the lethality meta any-time to show the glaring issues with her new kit. Although I believe the most recent changes to her kit, less damage on abilities but more A/S are healthy it actually takes away from her kit and turns her Valor into more of a taxi.

The strategic depth old Quinn had involved her diver/assassin playstyle as Valor. What separated the good and bad Quinn players was in their ability to use tag team. Not only are you gated by a large CD but only have 20s to work with. Those 20s can be used to position across the map which was a pretty huge part of Quinn's character, timing when to use tag time to get good distance but not waste the duration. You had to decide between melee or range and the strength was pretty equal in between, Valor had insane DPS while Quinn had her range and utility. Decision making also came in ending tag-team, realizing that Valor was not right in the current situation.I loved the new Quinn because in team fight situations you could be kiting in the enemy frontline to diving the enemy backline in an instant. Those momentous choices is what I fell in love with and her kit, although with very evident flaws, was distinctly cohesive to me. Don't even get me started on skystrike...

The new Quinn could never simulate the old highlight moments of of the previous one.

Indeed that's not important, any and everyone who could use Lethality was op throughout the 'Lethality' meta, and she's not the first champion to be OP on release.

No, there is a lot of strategic thought it in - Where exactly do you want to be? It's something called positioning, and it's pretty damn difficult, especially for someone who being in a lane alone doesn't mean certain death if a bruiser walks by.

Her movespeed is good early-mid, but it's not godly. Many to most assassins have at least ~50% of their damage as targeted damage (or VERY difficult to dodge, cough cough Akali/Kassadin/Zed/Talon/Rengar/Kha), at least with Quinn you need to hit a bodyblockable skillshot directly. The Lethality meta showed glaring issues with everyone's kit. Specifically, those who had some form of CC. It's not overbearing normally, but when they can kill you in half a second, any CC becomes overpowered.

Old Quinn was a diver/assassin, new Quinn is a skirmisher/marksman. Of course there's a difference.

No, there is a lot of strategic thought it in - Where exactly do you want to be? It's something called positioning, and it's pretty damn difficult, especially for someone who being in a lane alone doesn't mean certain death if a bruiser walks by.

I gave reasons why the ability requires little thought to be used successfully. Give me reasons as to why it requires strategic foresight because I am drawing blanks in all directions. The strategic elements should be something specific to Quinn and not something just all champions consider. Reason being the goal of reworks is to make champions distinct.

I never said her movement speed was godly but it is the highest in the game. Yeah I'd actually say Quinn was a major benefactor of the lethality changes in comparison to other AD assassins due to her CC, reliable damage, and how she wasn't gated by cooldowns. Blinding assault is a fast moving projectile, probably the same speed as Zed's shuriken so when dodging without minions it's gonna be difficult. When with minions the difference changes but not as much. Quinn has higher movement speed allowing her to position around minions to get the jump on you. I'd say her assassination pattern is similar to Rengar cause he would often try to get off his bola however it isn't entirely necessary because he has a lot of damage else where. Quinn's blinding assault has a low of power in it but wasn't entirely necessary because of skystrike, vault, harrier providing more than enough to put enemies at critical health. At least during the lethality meta.

Old Quinn was a diver/assassin, new Quinn is a skirmisher/marksman. Of course there's a difference.

Old Quinn was a skirmisher/marksmen, it was Valor who was diver/assassin. I would actually say Valor is more skirmisher/assassin like Master Yi, as his kit didn't promote diving straight up necessarily like a Jarvan or Hecarim. The marksman tag will pretty much always stay on her with how she is reliant on auto attacks and how she plays. New Quinn is still skirmisher/marksman but has gotten half of her kit removed with the removal of Valor. Also my point wasn't on "Quinn is different after her rework"but, on how new Quinn is lacking in terms of complexity and gameplay in comparison to old Quinn. My examples tried to show those traits of the old Quinn and how new Quinn is bad.

Valor Bot3 votes

I like Quinn's roaming, but I agree that it shouldn't be her niche. For one, it doesn't really fit her character, because she's supposed to be a ranger whose primary method involves camouflaging with the environment to gather intel on her enemies before striking with Valor, NOT flying around on a bird at mach speeds and spraying bolts everywhere like a mad man.

Gameplay-wise, she was intended to be "the roaming Marksman" but doesn't have a kit suited to performing traditional Marksman-like things (teamfighting, tank-busting, etc). Couple this with her powerful target access, burst damage and mobility, and you just have a ranged Talon on your hands due to all the map mobility the two champions share. She's much more of an Assassin than anything else and this is part of what makes her so interesting as a ranged AD champion, IMO.

If I had to pick a new niche for Quinn, I'd go all out on making her League's premiere recon character. This means boosting her ability to reveal enemies on the map while also giving her the tools to avoid notice (invis / camo / stronger nearsight?).

All in all, I just feel Quinn's gameplay should revolve less around "super fast roaming" and more around spying and catching out enemies through AoE vision.

A ranged Talon who can kite and build to fight tanks effectively, as well.

Her laning (ranged top laner) and specific kit (Q, E, W) also make her very unique.

If I had to pick a new niche for Quinn, I'd go all out on making her League's premiere recon character. This means boosting her ability to reveal enemies on the map while also giving her the tools to avoid notice (invis / camo / stronger nearsight?).

Then her W needs some serious buffs. As in, either huge range, marks targets seen like a blue plant does, or following her around for a few seconds.

No it didn't. Pre-rework Quinn had near Leblanc levels of burst and was much more binary than she is now. When behind, she literally offered nothing to a team. At least current Quinn can catch someone out easier due to much stronger roaming.

KoKoboto1 votes

No it didn't what?

Quinn did not have LeBlanc levels of burst unless she was insanely ahead. When behind she offered nothing to a team like most other marksmen as most marksmen revolve around dealing damage. An Ezreal that falls behind is just as useless as a Quinn that falls behind.

However I do understand that if old Quinn wasn't ahead she was as good as behind but the same goes for other early/mid-game champions. Quinn had the tools in her kit to get kills and get ahead, her kit forced action on the player.

Current Quinn catches you but what? If she is behind she can't kill you.

With just item 3142 item 3153 she could near instagib any carry, no matter how bad her early game went. Remember that Botrk had a much stronger active back then. However, her teamfighting was much worse than it is now. An EZ that's behind still has his godly poke and kiting, but Quinn offered nothing since her ult forced her to commit to trades. When she was ahead she killed your whole team, but when behind she could either dive the carry or die trying.

Her playstyle isn't that much different now. The main difference is that her current ult gives her more options for exploiting a team's lack of coordination, as well as providing stronger split-push tactics. I don't think her Q/W/E skills need changed, but I'm all for her getting a new ult as long as it's a utility-based skill. The crit scaling on Harrier should also be replaced with a more reliable stat, as she doesn't really need crit to do her job.

KoKoboto1 votes

No it didn't what?

With just [yommus and botrk] she could near instagib any carry, no matter how bad her early game went. Remember that Botrk had a much stronger active back then.

Botrk active did 10% of a targets max health as magic damage, if the enemy has 1200 health than it's only doing 120 damage before resistances which is not a lot. The active was not good early game and wasn't used for damage but for kiting and dueling. Any ad assassin could gib with Yommus and Botrk if ahead, see Zed. Quinn however did not have much AD ratios on her kit, Q and E did okay damage and when you were Valor you did not have harrier but were reliant on attack speed. Unless Quinn was pretty far ahead like an item or so she wasn't instagibbing anyone. In fact I don't ever remember a time Quinn could instagib with just those items unless the enemy was IONS behind.

Let's look at a level 9 Quinn with Yommu's and Botrk...

You had ~100 bonus AD and around 170AD total, Q would deal 305 damage, E would deal 60 damage, R would do at minimum 150 damage. That's ALL you have in terms of abilties. So you dive in with EQ and got off 365 damage before considering resistances, other squishies at level 9 have around 1000 health. You've used TWO abilities to do only 365 damage, the rest of your damage would come from auto attacks. No one is getting instagibed against Quinn with just botrk and yommus. You would have to get in at least 3 more auto attacks and use R again to get a kill. Mind you none of my rough calculations consider armor, most squishies have around 40 armor so reduce all physical damage by around 30%.

Once more Quinn would only be able to instantly kill if she was ahead by a significant amount and in that case any champion that had that build could instagib any carry. Regardless if you think Quinn could instagib I would point you towards LeBlanc. Old LeBlanc could just Q R and get a squishy to 10%, in games where she was ahead that is all she needed to kill and LeBlanc was great at snowballing. There are very few instances where Quinn could instantly kill a squishy unless we are talking about late game but by that point all squishies instantly kill each other.

However, her teamfighting was much worse than it is now.

How is her teamfighting any worse than it is now? None of her abilities changed significantly enough to make her teamfighting better. You can argue that nearsight is a thing now but so was AoE blind, both have different uses in a teamfight and are not that comparable.

An EZ that's behind still has his godly poke and kiting, but Quinn offered nothing since her ult forced her to commit to trades.

An Ezreal that's behind does not have Godly poke. Any carry can kite when behind, Caitlyn can kite when behind but she won't deal damage, Jinx can kite when behind but won't deal damage. Quinn is exactly the same albeit she actually has utility in her Q which gives her some leverage over others. Also if Ezreal did have godly poke he'd have a much higher winrate than he does now and would be picked more in the professional scene because he has overall great damage but that is not the case. Like where are you getting these thoughts coming from?

How can you blatantly say Quinn offered nothing when she has an AoE blind, that is huge in teamfights. Even if you don't do much damage you could stop the enemy from any on-hit damage. Also Valor gave her some power with his massive A/S boost and the ultimate would still allow for cross map plays although with more restrictions. As should be with all ultimate ability, restrictions and meaningful use. As I mentioned earlier knowing how to use her ultimate in all it's different ways separated good Quinn players from bad ones. You saying her ultimate was only good for forcing fights is telling me a lot.

Quinn did NOT kill your whole team when ahead what the hell? You're actually pissing me off with these exaggerations.

Her playstyle isn't that much different now. The main difference is that her current ult gives her more options for exploiting a team's lack of coordination, as well as providing stronger split-push tactics.

Give any champion a teleport without CD and they can exploit team's lacking coordination and splitpush effectively. As I said earlier; it's niche but it's not engaging, it's not strategic and it's not fun.

I don't think her Q/W/E skills need changed, but I'm all for her getting a new ult as long as it's a utility-based skill.

I agree in that all of those abilities are pretty unique and shape Quinn's champion to some extent. Perhaps blinding assault and heightened senses active could be done better though. Why does her ultimate need to be a utility-based skill, that shouldn't be a focus if it comes to changing Quinn. Riot should focus on implementing more of Valor in her kit and remove his beyond stupid Taxi playstyle.

It's so stupid. It's beyond stupid. I wish my vocabulary was stronger so I could really describe how stupid her ultimate is.

The crit scaling on Harrier should also be replaced with a more reliable stat, as she doesn't really need crit to do her job.

Whatever is all I have to say to this. Crit is to get her to play like an ADC, allows her to benefit from building it, and acts as tool to curve her power. That's the reason why it's there, it also scales with AD so I don't know what other stat you would want it to scale with? Mana regen? Like... Whatever.

Quinn doesn't function like an ADC. She never has and, with her current kit, she never will. You cannot just compare her to standard marksmen because she doesn't play like any of them. Comparing her with champions that go bot lane and farm is pointless. It would make more sense to compare her to Teemo or Graves than Ezreal/Cait. That's all I have to say on this, the results speak for themselves.

So I guess you can go ahead and delete your other comments cause everything you've been saying has been mumbo jumbo.

  1. Old Quinn was not as unhealthy as new Quinn
  2. Old Quinn was not as binary
  3. Old Quinn could not instantly kill squishies
  4. Botrk active damage isn't important
  5. Old Quinn did offer more than just damage
  6. Old Quinn can't kill whole teams easily
  7. New Quinn playstyle is different now
  8. New Quinn ult is no where near Quinn's old ult in terms of game play

If your main point was to say Quinn doesn't function like other ADCs why are you even commenting here? That's a well known fact. However you cannot deny that she plays like a marksman and as such is comparable to other marksman champions.

Old Quinn was far more healthy a champion, but her terrible bugs kept her down (Easiest auto in the game to cancel, being able to cancel the damage portion even AFTER the missile has visibly fired from her model, Vault's buggy coding resulting in her flying in very unpredictable directions, bad hitboxes on her Q (Valor could flat out hit targets behind you bad), among many others, Harrier being the biggest chunk of RNG in the game in laning, even more so than 1% crit runes (Seriously, I once got 3 harrier procs in less than .5 seconds thanks to perfect timing in hitting a harrier, it reproc'ing on the champion again in the middle of a wave of 15 minions (It was purely random targetting back then, didn't prioritize champs or targets last autoed), and then vaulting to get a third proc and instantly killing them with almost no counterplay just because RNG got me 3 Harrier procs in a row that should have never happened. If you didn't get perfect storms such as this her passive was ass though, and often would proc on minions that had already died and go on CD or proc after you had already fired the AA and not go off despite the animation having started long before your AA)).

New Quinn is a very unhealthy champion, and her bugs still haven't gone anywhere, they just compounded raw power onto her kit and got rid of her unique gameplay mechanics.

Pretty close. Her bugs were brutally bad and you'd run into a few of them every single game easily.

Harrier has a cooldown? It's impossible for it to proc twice in .5 seconds without deliberate use of Q or E.

New Quinn is a very unhealthy champion, and her bugs still haven't gone anywhere, they just compounded raw power onto her kit and got rid of her unique gameplay mechanics.

She still has E mechanics, Q blind, W kiting and vision. These are all very powerful and important parts of her kit that can all be used for multiple things and require skill to use well.

Cooldown started the moment the mark was placed, NOT when it was procced. You could proc it twice in a row as a result by waiting out the proc timer to the last moment, and launching the harrier auto then.

On the second point, yes, but they flat out chunked half her kit almost to keep those parts.

Yeah, I feel you, even as a Quinn player.

Which is why I'd like them to eventually shift her pattern to be a bit more sustained, but less burst. Although not every Quinn player thinks that way.

But let us continuously buff tanks

It's not like Riot haven't shifted power in her kit around to make burst weaker. It's not like They haven't made sustained DPS a much better path for her either.

Eh, sustained damage is arguably better late game, but it's much more expensive. Burst-oriented lethality builds are cheaper and get off the ground sooner, which allow her to snowball.

Both are viable but it's really game/comp-dependent.

They should change the ult. As someone who enjoys Quinn, both old and new, her new ultimate is so lackluster and boring. You can run around faster, yay. It deals next to no damage, and its only in-combat use is to apply her passive mark as she begins a fight.

Roaming faster is quite powerful, but it doesn't feel impactful to use. You just get a massive movespeed increase, like a superpowered Boots of Mobility, since it goes away if you enter combat.

Valor was so cool before the rework. Now he's a glorified taxi driver. It's so boring!

Ult doesn't apply passive??? It's auto applied when you enter combat/auto attack someone/stand near enemies for long enough.

Personally I find it pretty fun, flanking with it is also nice. Especially once you hit lategame, zooming around with 16k movespeed is great.

Oh I thought this worked without putting the passive on cooldown. My b. I'll have to test it next time I play.

It's fun enough. But only enough. There is so much more that could be done with it that wasn't. Stat buffs creates hidden power. It's not as apparent. Sure it's powerful and moderately fun to be able to roam, flank and gank enemies. But abilities are more fun when they require interaction, have complex mechanics, or do something useful in combat or unique outside of combat.

Ultimates are supposed to be unique, impactful abilities which help to define a character's "cool moment" and better define their playstyle. Her ultimate is literally just Boots of Mobility on an ability. That's super boring if you consider / compare it with other ultimate abilities. She should be given something better. The champion and her playerbase deserve better.

An engage ability on someone with 0 engage elsewhere in their kit, who is effectively as immobile as Jhin (but with better peel), is very necessary for her to function without being made into a battlemage ADC (juggernaut).

If you take it away, she needs some form of engage. It's impossible to get near a mage or ADC who's running away without it (if they pop your R).

HalcyonDweller1 votes

That's fair. I wouldn't disagree with her getting some other form of engage or at least another way to gain movement speed. But they should at least do something cooler with Valor. Maybe if the ultimate caused Valor to scout around and marking enemies for Quinn (even in the fog of war), this could even give her movement speed when moving towards marked enemies, I'm just spitballing here, I'm not sure what the best change to make would be.

Speeding out of fog of war at 900 miles per hour and bursting you doesn't allow for much play

  1. Quinn only gets ~600 movespeed midgame with Youmuu's and boots (not mobo's), 540 specifically for one of those circumstances
  2. Quinn is squishy and low ranged. Any damage and most CC will pop her out of her ult, even nondamaging slows that are not intended to pop her R. Once Quinn loses her R, you should be able to walk away.
  3. An ally helps a great deal by CC'ing Quinn
  4. Minions bodyblock Q, it's also dodgable.
  5. If you're alone lategame, you're either catching up on CS, and should thus be under tower, freezing the wave, or a duelist squishy. The first is your fault, you were too far up without wards, or just too far up. Your team should also notify you if Quinn is mia. The second means you have a decent chance of killing Quinn and probably have the mobility to juke her Q.

before at least she was melee when she was using her ult and it had a cooldown timer. Now you literally cast it any time you want to start speeding towards your target destination and she retains her full ranged kit.

WAIT REALLY?

What is the point of this lol

reminds me of that time Cowsep played Quinn and 2 hit enemy (took like half a second). [zombie-brand-mindblown]
