So far preseason changes have impacted one role considerbly

Markmen's win rates have shot up so high, followed only by assassins. Bruisers and tanks are lower than ever. With enough sample size of games now, it's fair to say that markmen especially are winning a disproportionately large amount of games. Why is that? Well if you look at the jungle changes and other changes it is pretty clear. The first dragon buff gives marksmen their power spike earlier, not later. More damage also favors the assassin class, but not as much. Mages overall are doing better than they had too but not as much as either of these roles.

Marksmen have even more edges in the preseason however, from cheaper buying options, to more gold income from last hitting, to the fact that the jungle is way harder now meaning the frequencey and effectiveness of ganks has dropped drastically which leaves marksmen more time to farm and more control of the outcome of their game.

If you look over the last 7 days on op.gg statistics page, these champions for gold+ play are consistently in the top 10 or even top 5: Ashe, Sivir, Jinx, Miss Fortune. All have no great escapes, and are marksmen. The lifting of the threat of early ganks has really really helped these champions win rates.

Win rates with high enough sample size are very indicative of a champion or even a roles game health and balance especially when taken from higher level play. I fear that Riot's response will be to nerf the champs that bubble to the top, instead of addressing actual design issues for the other roles that are currently suffering, which is a terrible solution. Shyvana for example has been bottom 20 tier for most of season 4 (except the beginning before her nerfs) and is in no better a spot now, maybe even worse.

The dragon buff is a huge problem. The damage buff affects some roles and champions way better than it suits others and its power as a percentage based damage boost will disproportionately favor damage dealing champions by a large margin. If it was flat damage, that would be different. That would actually somewhat favor tanks as they don't usually itemize for damage and extra would increase their threat. To be fair, it should give boosted damage and boosted resistance to damage. perhaps 3% to both and split it. This way it scales with most champions in ways that are beneficial so you don't have to re-balance entire roles of champions with number changes. It has to be on the first buff as well, or it will still skew win rates toward whoever gets the buff earliest.

This sort of buff has another drawback tho, it would hurt 100-0 champions who depend on their numbers to perform at all, and as we know, 3% damage doesn't cancel out 3% decreased damage (103 damage * 97% for example is 99.91 meaning you'd still do less damage so perhaps it should be balanced with that in mind).

Pretty sure those champs you mentioned have had high winrates for a while, not just this season. ADCs as a class cannot ever possibly have abnormally high winrates, since they're in every game. Assassins have been meta for a while, too, not just this season. You're trying to argue that a season 5 change is the cause for certain champions having higher winrates, without looking at the baseline stats from season 4 to see what actually changed.

Exactly. This is like saying "The winning team in LoL has 5 pairs of boots 99.99% of the time! Nerf boots now!"

99.99% to preempt whoever is going to come in and say ADC's can sell boots late-game for Zephyr.

facepalm 6% AD/AP is not a power spike. Now, when late game hits, it's a significant number. But early game, a long sword is more of a power spike.

you speak with all the wisdom and logic of an amoeba. Tell me how do you facepalm with no hands?

A long sword is 360 gold. the old dragon was 275 gold. 6% at 120 damage is already more for your money per AD spent than old dragon, and that's highly achievable even 10 minutes into the game and that doesn't even account for base damages of spells/abilites on adc. They ramp up faster in relation to other roles, but I guess that means it's not a power spike right? It's a um. Oh right it's a power spike. I also like how your knee jerk reply took into account the jungle changes and other benefits marksman are benefiting from right now too right? Because your reply was so well thought out and informative and articulated. I'm fine with people not agreeing with me, but your reply is simply being an asshole and if you can't take the same effort to reply then just don't reply. Don't worry I'm sure you're right, the win rate spike of marksman has nothing to do with Riot's historic short sighted design decisions or the preseason changes at all, and they just happened for no reason and mean nothing right.

That's like calling Nasus getting a Q stack a power spike.

That's like calling 5 AD from leveling up a power spike.

I realize what you're saying but you're using the WRONG TERMINOLOGY.

A power spike is a SHARP rise in power.

Hitting 6 and getting your ult is typically a power spike.

Getting the gold and getting your Infinity edge is a power spike.

Getting a buff that gives you 3 bonus AD that continues to slowly scale through the game IS NOT A POWER SPIKE!!!

I'm sorry, but to claim that a buff that is out scaled by a long sword until you surpass 120 AD isn't a power spike, it's not snowbally. It's a late massive late game buff. But early game you won't see your basic attacks increase by more than 5 damage until after you've got nearly 200 AD.

I guess you can't even do the basic math, as the numbers you stated are wrong. Everyone who posted in this thread so far is unbelievably ignorant and willful. Go ahead, keep being wrong, I don't really care.

Actually, I can and have done the math. Early game the dragon buff will provide you with negligable AD, that's not a power spike.

Now if you got your first dragon at the 30-45 minute mark when you've already got 200-300 AD, now THAT is a power spike. It's not a Big one, but it is a spike. Something pointed out in another thread, something I don't think you realize. Typically the first team to get dragon, do so because they have a tactical advantage, ward coverage, cs advantage, kill advantage from successful gank, ect. It isn't that the dragon buff gives them any more of a real advantage. It's that they have already taken an advantage and are more denying dragon as a comeback advantage to the enemy team.

Given that there is a fairly fixed meta, certain ADCs having high win rates means they are better than other ADC picks, not that they are better than bruisers and tanks...

ADC's having high winrate over fighters and tanks doesn't show that they are any more important than other roles. The thing you can get from these numbers is that either having multiple adc's in a game is very effective or having many fighters+tanks isn't a way to go. I'd guess the latter is more likely.
