Senna: The "support" ADC

Dr40UR·10/29/2019, 7:33:25 PM·134 votes·32,520 views

"In order to make sure Senna can scale without CSing or KSing, and without building marksmen items, we made sure she can scale with her passive"

Me: But what if we just build damage, CS, and KS anyways?

Riot: Umm, don't.

This is just Pyke all over again. People are going to go full damage, she's going to delete people, they're gonna nerf her, then eventually add some restriction to her so she can't build marksmen items.

My issue is that not only does she get free Crit (a already broken stat) she gets free RANGE. Like WTF.

They probably made it so that if she takes the CS she doesn't get the passive ghouls

It would be nice to get a Sustain/CC support, from the look of the track record they've been pushing hard for assassin and mage as supports instead of... supports. Which really fucking sucks.

I saw the champion spotlight and this champion is not a support, more of an adc or mid laner, she certainly has the damage in her kit to pull it off. If her autos are ranged (could not tell from the video) then adc for sure would be free for her, especially cause she has built in cc and self peel in her kit with her e and w.

I'd argue it's the opposite problem of Pyke on release, but still a problem nonetheless. Pyke got released with ass ratios so everyone just built him tanky instead until Riot gave him ratios worth building damage for.

So her AAs having a huge delay, her crits dealing reduced damage and her AD not scaling with level but with her passive aren't restrictions? Hmm

Riot is trying to make the support role more attractive, but they're not being careful with it. Senna will likely be able to do much more than a pure support role.

On the other hand she doesnt have 2 dashes and 3 CC, which is an improvement from previous champions released.

So I was watching August's stream and he explained rather well one of the things that is going to hold her back as an ADC is a very long attack point which "basically roots her"..

Attack Point isn't a stat that's talked about a lot, you won't find it in the wiki, but basically when somebody starts to attack they have a few frames before the attack occurs (aka frontswing), Xayah for instance has a 10 frame attack frame, which is considerably quick, and these values are decreased by attackspeed (meaning xayah gets down to basically instant attack startup).

One part of League where Attack Point is mentioned is Thresh, who's passive reads attack "wind-up"(attack point) is increased by only 25% of every 1% attackspeed (0.25%), so no matter how much attackspeed Tresh builds, he's always slowed down.

So what does this mean for Senna? First her attackspeed efficiency is awful, Lethal Tempo+Rageblade+5 witts End only gets you to 1.63. And because the attack point is so slow, combined with not much attackspeed to speed it up, if you try and attack move quickly you'll actually end up cancelling autos because she doesn't finish her animation. You actually have to root yourself to auto even in the best case scenario.

So yeah, I don't think this is going to be some busted ADC at all. Combining all this with reduced critical damage I'm not saying she won't be able to do the role, but I don't think Riot is going to have to restrict items on her like the OP suggested..

If the have not learned that lots of utility with decent damage is a bad thing for a support after solo lane Pyke/Karma/Lulu/soraka/Ap taric then i doubt they will ever learn. Pro play is going to ruin this champion.

Honestly, I didn't want her to be a support. :/ I wanted a regular ADC... I get that they were interested in giving her synergy with Lucian and shit... but why? I don't want that. I wanted a regular ADC. Not yet another "support" who will fuck over actual ADCs.

RyzeRework10/29/2019, 10:53:02 PM6 votes

They said they want her as a viable adc and support but if it's too strong they are ganna balance her as a support. I feel like she will be played like lucian because her damage is from her abilities and less like a late game adc

Makarakarn10/29/2019, 10:59:08 PM5 votes

They've already said that she is supposed to be both a marksmen and a support, and she has the tools to do both. They have said, however, that if balancing both becomes a nightmare they will opt for support rather than marksmen.

Ok so Senna is not going to synergize with damage items. All her abilities scale off of base AD, and her attack speed is so slow (and her crits do so little damage) that she's not going to be carrying with just autos. I think the main problem is her e, but she's still targetable and doesn't truly stealth allies.

I will embrace the downvotes for not complaining about BrokEn NeW cHAmP

Wild Geese10/30/2019, 4:05:28 AM3 votes

She's an ADC with some shields and heals.. however take note that a ranged character with no inherent scaling with critical strike or attackspeed might as well be a mage, there's dozens of ranged characters who aren't adcs.

Even if her cannon gimmick does gain power, range, and critical chance over time, it's also said to be "slow attacking", this is important. For instance Jhin barely makes the crossing like as an ADC due to his slow attack speed, but he has a ton of crit/attackspeed scaling, AD scaling, and he has his 4th shot.

So really just how good this character is as a carry?

nothing like another 4 way flex champion built originally for support
