Is Sterak's Gage a viable defensive item for adc's?

For the one defensive item most ADC's choose to build, would this fit well into their builds? Don't ADC's have some of the highest base atk dmg in the game? I remember when everyone was building Warmog's, including ADC's, so a purely HP-oriented defensive item doesn't seem bad to me. Furthermore, it procs easy, because you need to take at least 400 to 1800 damage (based on level) within 5 seconds--easy for ADC's. I've also been thinking, the fact the adc increases in size could be a nice wake-up call to your team, telling them you're low or that you need better peeling.

ADCs have low base AD in general. ADC with the highest base AD is Kalista with 117 at level 18. Second highest is Draven with 109.9. Mordekaiser has 146, which is the highest base AD at 18.

So it's probably better to just get an actual defensive item like GA or something.

I think you are on to something but it seems kinda expensive for the amount of offensive mileage you can get out of it, I would be willing to test it

or you could just build randuins for defense and have an advantage in fights against other adc.

The only ADC who should build item 3053 is Mordekaiser and you should rush it. The issue is yes it gives you a nice shield, but with low health and being relatively squishy as a standard shield getting caught out is death regardless. 30% of 1500 HP vs 4000 is dismal at best for a shield that will pop slightly faster than you will.

item 3053 in general is a fight or fight item. Adc's need fight or flight, this will get you killed more often than not.

at level 18 it requires you take more damage than most ADCs have maximum HP to trigger the shield.

Morde can cheese it because he can inflate his health a couple of times over with his passive. e'rrybody else notsomuch.

So I'd say that you dont want to build it on the "real" adc's.. You simply have to almost try to take dmg to proc it but I've tried it out on Vayne top as a defensive item and I reallyyyy like it. So I'd say dont build it on adc's unless you play them in top as a "tank?"

Eh, I guess it's worth testing. I'd rather take banshee's veil or randuins, though.

It's a good idea and if you have the left over gold it's definitely not too shabby. If your team is having a hard time keeping me alive, I do tend to grab it. It provides a little bit extra attack damage, and when the passive gets triggered you get a strong shield as well a slight damage buff. It's not great, but it can definitely help save your life occasionally. Mind you watching what the other team builds is important too. You don't want to miss out on an important item like IE or Last Whisper.
