Why is Pulsefire Ezreal's Essence Flux shorter than Classic Ezreal's?

to test this you should do it with a champion at the very edge of regular Ezreal's W and see if Pulsefire Ezreal still hits in the same spot with his W. my guess is its what summoner grey said. just a misleading animation. you can actually have a perfect chance to test this fast with a custom all for one.
