Can we give Yasuo the Riven treatment and gut his HP regen by a ton?

Minions4eVeR··182 votes·6,220 views

The dude has a fucking shield passive by just walking for a few seconds, a wind wall that literally blocks every single projectile in the game and his E gives him enough mobility to dodge almost every skillshot. Plus, he's fucking resourceless. Yet, he still has a decent base health regen.

If he fucks up and we somwhoe manage to damage him, can we at least make it so he can't just back off with health potions and come back like it was literally nothing? Just make it like Riven, so he gets punished for incorrectly trading in lane.

I agree. Riven and Yasuo both have a shield both of which are nothing alike and therefore they are the same champion and should be nerfed in the same way.

Varalessia4 votes

your right, Riven's ability takes up a skill slot and has a small dash attached to it, Yasuo's is a passive and gives him thousands of gold in stats

Akali is SO HOT3 votes

Thanks for pointing out a difference between the 2 shields further proving that they are indeed the same champion and should both be nerfed accordingly.

Varalessia1 votes

They are indeed different with one being stronger than the other, you must keep in mind the weight of a skill slot. After all, you only get three normal abilities and an ultimate. (With exceptions.) If we are to look at things in a vacuum, which we shall do for a second here, the very fact that Yasuo's shield scales with levels and also gives him an immense damage increase for building a normal path on a passive while Riven's essentially forces her flat ad to be significant, with the bonus of a small dash and the fact that the ability is on command.

However, if passives should make that much of an impact I argue that they should be a core part of the champions kit (Bloody lord, I mean look at Evelynn, shes paid for her passive 10 times over.) and the fact that Yasuo gets so much on his passive as well as an extremely strong kit with an ability that can invalidate entire champions with no commitment it means that power has to be taken from other places or taken off of his passive.

Yosuke Apperu1 votes

Are you trying to imply that riven doesn't build copious amounts of ad? Also riven's shield doesn't pop after a single attack (depending on the strength of said attack) plus it can be used to turret dive, and as you said it has a dash attached to it. When you say he invalidates a champions entire kit.. then it makes me feel like you just macro alll of you abilities together and when he wind walls your first skill, you've already launched everything you had at him. Aside from that his wind wall has a relatively long cool down, so bait it out with one of you abilities. To be honest my biggest two problems with yasuo is that his ult at rank 3 has a 30 second cool down, and that he gets armor pen against me if he ults one of my team mates. Riven is WAY more oppressive in lane imo. Yas also has lower base health as well.

Riven has her shield available more often as well.

Yasuo has very low base HP and no scaling MR. He's awful to play against but he's balanced.

Also, unlike Riven Yas has no control over when his shield activates. Pop it with a basic attack every so often. His shield strength also doesn't scale with items and it's uptime isn't anywhere near Riven's shield, which is available every 7 seconds or so.

Don't even get me started on Yasuo top. Bruisers counter assassins, honestly I have no idea why people willingly put Yasuo toplane.

Here are some common top laners: Garen Darius Rip Yasuo apart in lane Riven Literally Yasuo's hardest counter Jax Read his kit Malphite Too much armor for Yas to make a dent Tryndamere Will out-DPS, out-crit, and out-sustain Yas The only meta toplaner I ever see Yasuo reliably crush is Nasus, but beating Nasus early game is not an achievement by any definition. And if Nasus's jungler actually bothers to gank, Nasus will wither Yas and Yasuo WILL die in that gank. After a couple of good ganks Nasus will start oustcaling Yas and at that point there's nothing Yasuo can do about him.

Yasuo top is only good to punish people who cheese pick ranged/squishy champions for top lane.

Only about half of those are correct. Garen is absolute hell and should autowin the lane unless Garen has brain damage. Malphite and Tryndamere are also a free lane so long as they aren't stupid and die at lvl 2.

The rest of them are varying degrees of skill matchups. Yasuo dumps on Darius early and can very easily snowball and keep him down the entire game. Jax actually gets murdered by Yasuo for the first 10 minutes or so since his counter strike is so easy for Yasuo to outplay when there are minions around and constant trading will force Jax oom very quickly. Riven is more of a skill matchup the higher elo you go and is very easily winnable by Yasuo and he can snowball just as hard off of her as she can off of him.

Nasus is an interesting one because although Yasuo can bully Nasus really hard early, unless he gets multiple early kills, Nasus' combo of stacking defense with his Q damage and wither just becomes too much for Yasuo to handle. It's a fairly solid matchup for Yasuo overall but if anything bad happens to him early, he's completely donezo. Most of Yasuo's top lane matchups are pretty straightforward: Bully your lane opponent early and gain enough of a lead that you can survive their stronger first back/ult powerspikes long enough to get your Shiv. Then it turns into Yasuo's lane again for pretty much the rest of the game unless the other top laner gets fed somehow. However, if anything bad were to happen early on in the matchup, such as a successful early gank on the Yasuo, he is completely boned and has pretty much no way to recover against competent enemies other than a camp by his own jungler or a big TP play.

I stopped reading after you said Yas murders Jax. An AA champion destroying Jax. AA a Jax. Jax.

Ninja and Omen and you pretty much chunk off 30% of his damage(this is the exact math BEFORE armour resist), not counting if you're tank top with reinforced armour which ninja strait up shuts Yas down before 7min.

It's rather boring to discuss lane match ups when people are so bias and favour a champion just like you make it sound as if Yas is unstoppable, "oh and only a shit Yas would lose lane"

You can theorise all you like but the reason Yas is mid is because most mid champions have projectiles and mages are squish. Yas top you have a useless W and the enemy is a designated bruiser/tank who isn't squish or skill shot reliant as mid.

Watch more diamond/master Yas games you'll realise most of what you think isn't so valid.

Jax is no exception. I've played Yasuo over 600 times, and that's how the matchup plays out. Yasuo brutally bullies Jax early but gets outscaled after around 10 minutes assuming he isn't well ahead by then. Here's another one you won't believe: Yasuo vs. Riven is a skill matchup and the idea that Riven is this amazing counter to Yasuo is a load of crap.

And please, spare me the "2300 games and only plat" line. You've been playing since season 2 minimum and I've been playing since the beginning of season 4 and I've already reached the elo you're at now, even if I'm no longer there atm. The fact that I've been diamond 4 in just my second year of ranked and you're still there in your 4th year is an embarassment for you, not for me.

Slamurai Jack1 votes

You can keep arguing with my experience as much as you want; Yasuo shits on Jax for the first 10 minutes, especially at lvls 1 and 2. He simply doesn't have the damage early to beat through Yasuo's shield, he doesn't have the sustain to battle through Yasuo's constant poke and harass, and he doesn't have the mana to trade often early either. Jax does have a chance to win the lane after the first back before Yasuo gets Shiv and he eventually outscales Yasuo late in the game, but for the first 10 minutes, Jax is Yasuo's bitch and Yasuo can easily get far enough ahead that Jax can never come back.

As for Riven. She's not. She doesn't have many of the things Yasuo hates most. She has no targeted gap closer. She has no natural sustain. She has no point and click burst. She has no unavoidable hard CC. Her ult can be outplayed if you manage your dashes properly. What the counter sites say doesn't matter, what matters are the stats. And the stats are, for top lane, Yasuo 48.03% vs Riven 51.97%. That's not a hard counter. That is, at best, a skill matchup that favors Riven slightly. And that is not nearly enough for me to be afraid of. You know who does scare me as Yasuo? Annie Irelia Garen MonkeyKing Renekton Kennen. All champions that stifle Yasuo's early game power while giving Yasuo very few counterplay options once they hit their power spikes. Riven does not do either unless she's already ahead.

Jax is also an old faceroll champion, his kit is almost entirely steroid. He has a lot less room for error than yasuo does.

I'm not sure if this is the correct department to nerf him in for several reasons.

Firstly, Yasuo's defensive abilities work differently than Riven's. Riot has already tried making damage stick better on Yasuo by nerfing his passive shield.

His shield has already been gutted since release. The shield value was decreased to around 2/3 of its original value and eventually received a tiny buff when Riot realized it didn't even block half an ADC's auto late game. The shield regeneration on his E has also been completely removed. Yasuo used to be able to get his shield back around every 5 seconds like Riven, but now Yasuo needs 13 seconds of straight walking to fill his Flow Bar from 0 to 100 at level 18 with tier 2 boots and shiv (Or if he uses Last Breath of course).

Just recently, Yasuo's shield regeneration took another hit in exchange for 50 to 100 more hit points. It actually takes him 17 seconds now at early levels to recharge his shield.

Also, don't forget the fact that he can't choose when his shield activates. Most champions have no problem throwing a ranged auto at it before engaging, and melee champions can punch right through it.

I am mentioning his passive Flow Shield because it essentially acts very similar to hp/5. The only thing the shield nerfs accomplished was that they significantly decreased the number of Top Yasuo games.

Secondly, Yasuo mitigates damage by mostly avoiding it completely. He is extremely effective against skill shot mages, but struggles significantly against champions with point and click attacks such as Azir, Malzahar, and Annie. Nerfing his hp/5 will only further emphasize his strengths at dodging abilities and expose his weakness to those he can't dodge.

On top of that, Yasuo also has some of the lowest base HP and MR in the game. Given his win rates on Champion.gg, statistically skill-shot based mages such as Brand and Vel'koz can absolutely demolish Yasuo because they can land skill shots consistently enough. Between a 17 second uncontrollable passive shield, 25 second Wind Wall, and some low base stats, it seems Yasuo does struggle against some skill shot mages.

If you want to nerf Yasuo, consider making his double critical chance passive kick in later by tying it to level or something. In terms of defense, Yasuo is possible one of the worst champions in League.

If they want to take a nerf to Yasuo, I'd say reduce his crit bonus passive. Its the reason that static shiv spikes his power so incredibly hard. He gets double the crit for the gold he spends. He's incredibly stat efficient. Riven spikes the same way for the same reason. A little goes a long way for her.

When someone else buys 50% crit chance, they deal on average 150% damage. When Yasuo buys 50% crit chance, he deals on average 180% damage. Yasuo effectively gains up to 30% crit chance, worth 1500g taking brawler's glove as a base.

Ok, so even with that in mind he still gains twice the critical strike offered from any item he purchases. He still hits like a truck and does crazy damage, especially if he ults you. He has incredible come back potential. 25% reduction on an ability with decent range and an awesome cd is nothing. Hes still going to get a lucky crit or two early and likely score a kill because of the rng god that loves him best.

Youre fucking dense. Do you think the tiny percentage penalty he suffers makes critical strikes stat weight for him bad? He gets double the critical strike RATING. So what if he deals a percentage less, when hes criting you constantly pre6, when crit makes a massive impact.

If it wasnt good, he wouldnt be the pain in the ass in lane that he is.

If he is constantly critting you pre 6 means you were afk in middlefield and came back just to be afk because he can't have SS and IE pre 6 in a regular match.

You also forgot to read the seocnd part of my post which explains to your little brian that 2xCrit chance is Yasuo Steroid the same way Trynda has his and Yi/Fiora have bonus damage/true damage.

He is extremely effective against skill shot mages, but struggles significantly against champions with point and click attacks such as Azir, Malzahar, and Annie.

what? Azir point and click? which game are you playing?

League? Azir mostly deal damage with his soldier AAs. In addition, W can be cast over the wind wall.

A good Azir is one of the hardest counters against Yasuo.

Being a counter doesn't mean he is a point and click champ.

The only skillshot in Azir's kit is his Q and arguably his ult. What game are you playing?

Not like it'll matter anyway. AoE autoattack and crits means a rather ridiculous amount of healing from lifesteal.

Ignorance at its finest.

Yasuo's Q counts as an AA only for the first target hit plus his build path doesn't let him build Life Steal before he got 2-3 items already. If he does he is terribly behind and will stay behind.

See the guy I replied to. If you are not in "discussion mode" you probably can't see it.

Please tell me how to enable this, because I have no clue and it's been bothering the hell out of me.

There is a button above the first reply. It's under the big text "Discuss".

I think only the first one applies? because lifesteal is coded as on hit effect. Not that sure after they made on-hit counted for lifesteal too.

lifesteal applies to onhit as well. that's why ez can heal so much off of q.
