Recent Ornn buffs and a "Worrying Trend" heading into preseason (kinda grasping at straws)

Ornn Buffs:

Volcanic Rupture (Q) mana cost lowered from 55/60/65/70/75 to 55 at all ranks Searing Charge (E) mana cost lowered from 60 at all ranks to 50 at all ranks

New runes are a major plus so far but we all want more. We want changes to this stupid early game meta. Changes to gold, experience, towers, yeah we all know what's wrong with this game right now. Recent Ornn buffs leads me to believe that Riot is gonna forget about mana though.

Mana has beeeen a throw-away stat that's only used to keep champions in check early so that they don't clear waves non-stop. You buy mana once and never think about it again unless you're Cassiopeia, Anivia, Ryze, Karthus, and the likes. By lowering Ornn's mana costs Riot is continuing to make mana a throw-away stat, something you never got to think about.

Mana should be something players need to think about and it might lead into future patches where this ridiculous "buy Morello and never worry about mana again" is gonna continue. Where champions like Fiora, Kayn, Yorick, EVERYONE basically run off energy because mana is not an issue. The buffs to Ornn so that he's basically resourceless leads me to believe Riot aren't looking at mana for this preseason.

Ornn does need buffs but Riot needs to step away from making every champion resourceless. Players should be considerate about mana costs.

######Worrying Trend is in quotations because it's an old unpopular LCS meme. Grasping at straws is in the title because Riot could still be doing mana updates for preseason and are just buffing Ornn in this way for now.

Remember when mana pots were still a thing?

Yeah. I'd say that going back to mana pots might be better because it's a gold investment and it means that mana is an actual issue for champions. Though my memory is a bit foggy going back to mana potions / crystaline flask... I'm sure mana wasn't so simple though.

I do remember item 3174 being pretty stupid...Mana regeneration + magic resist... item 3165 is equally as stupid though in a different way. Pretty much gives the same amount of effective mana but now gives more AP, more CDR + more grevious wounds.

I remember grail giving 20%CDR, am I mistaken?

they used to give the same stats pretty much, but athenes was just outright better so they gutted it. Then people started to do double morello's...

Ornn has insanely steep mana costs to the point where he has to back after two complete trades.

I agree with your point but ornn is the wrong champion to use.

Yea some champions are hard capped early because of mana issues. But if you take away mana you must replace it with a new handy cap. Mundo's is somewhat perfect in which he uses Health for his damage to a certain point where he regens faster then he uses. Shen is Hard capped because his skills just drain his energy pool after what a full combo.
