[Champion Concept] Magnus, The Gravity Master

Hi guys I'm here with another champion desing, I am looking for constructive criticism and feedback! Also remember numbers can always be changed, if you see something remember to be kind of specific to what area you think needs to be changed and I will certainly take your opinions into account!

Magnus, The Gravity Master

Base Stats

Passive, Cosmos

Magnus Passively stores charges for EACH INDIVIDUAL ABILITY every time he uses one. each ability can hold three charges on an ability it gains a new effect.


Q, Starlight

Magnus flashes a bright blast of starlight in a cone in front of him dealing 40/50/60/70/80 (+0.9 AP)

Mana cost: 20/22/24/26/28

Cooldown: 5/4.5/4/3.5/3 seconds

Cosmos Effect: Magnus' starlight flash is so bright that it blinds all enemies hit for 1 second. Base damage increased by 25


W, Gravity Chains

  • Magnus Chains an enemy champion to a nearby enemy/neutral (turrets excluded) unit. Both units also take magic damage upon being chained.

  • what Gravity Chains do: If the champion is chained to a unit that is not going the same direction as they are their movement speeds are taken away from each other. If the champion is chained to another champion, then if they can work together they can get to where they want to go, otherwise their movement speeds are taken away from each other. Chains last for 6 seconds

I.E. One champion has 380 movement speed and another Champion has 375 and they are trying to go in opposite directions while chained. Their movement speeds will cancel each other out so the person with 380 movement speed will get his way, but at 5 movement speed.

  • If movement speeds are the same and they are trying to move in opposite directions, then they wont move.

Magic Damage Dealt: 60/70/80/90/100 (+0.6 AP)

Mana Cost: 90/95/100/105/110

Cooldown: 16/14/13/12/11 seconds

Cosmos Effect: chains up to 4 nearby enemy/neutral units to targeted champion.


E, Gravity's Power

Magnus Creates an area on the ground that is put under the pressure of Massive Gravitational Force. That area is marked by an indentation in the ground (and particle effects). If an enemy enters the area of Gravity's Power then their movement speed is slowed by 50%, their attack speed is reduced by 50% (and all attack speed increasing abilities are reduced by 50%), they are silenced, and take damage per second.

  • upon leaving the the are of Gravity's Power movement speed gradually increases back to normal over 3 seconds. Attack speed gradually increases back to normal over 5 seconds. and silence is immediately lifted. Gravity's Power lasts 5 seconds

Magic Damage Per Second: 15/25/35/45/60 (+0.12 ap)

Total magic damage If inside the entire duration: 75/125/175/225/300 (+0.6 Ap)

Mana Cost: 100/110/120/130/140

Cooldown: 20/18/16//15/14 seconds

Cast time: 1 second

Diameter of circle: 150/200/250/300/350 units

Cosmos Effect: If a champion is inside the indentation at the end of the duration, they are stunned for 1 second.


R, Gravitational Field

  • Magnus Creates a spherical field of vision distorting gravity around an area. Wards inside this field do not show anything inside the field, they would show a regular area of vision with nothing unusual in it where the field was. Vision giving spells from the enemy team would not show champions inside the field even if you hit them with the spell. If an enemy spell is shot at the Field the spell will go through the field and deal 50% reduced damage ally(s) hit by the spell.

  • Magnus' allies can enter and leave the field at any time.

  • If an enemy champion enters the field their teammates lose sight of them on the mini-map AND if someone was nearby watching you they would immediately lose vision of you.

  • Once inside the field enemy champions are trapped there until they kill Magnus or destroy the field.

  • The shield has 200/300/400 (+.35 AP) health. It can be targeted by spells and basic attacks at the center of the field but area of effect spells do not affect it.

  • Magnus can move the field by standing near the center of it and holding R and moving. This moves the field but reduces Magnus' movement speed by 15%. Field lasts until Magnus Dies, it is destroyed, Magnus cancels it by moving outside of the field, or he runs out of mana.

Mana per second: 20/25/30

Cast time: 2 seconds

Cooldown if destroyed or Magnus dies: 140/120/110 seconds

Cooldown if Cancled: 90/85/80 seconds

If Magnus Cancels it and the shield has damage the cooldown will be increased to account for the amount of damage done.

Diameter of Sphere: 600/800/1000 units

Edit 1: Changes to Gravitational field:

  • Now has a cast time of 2 seconds

  • greatly reduced movement speed slow while moving the field

  • Mana per second now instead of initial cost

  • Cooldown increased slightly

  • reduced base health of shield.

  • Clarification: Neutral Monsters will not target the ult unless they are under attack by the champion, and gravity field is blocking their way back to their camp. (baron would not target it however dragon might if you place it in the right location)

Additionally a rework to his Q and a bit of work on his passive

Wow I like the ult. super-awesome. So basically it's an invisibility zone? That's neat. Maybe it could be a mana-per second thing like maokai's ult?

The passive deters and acts a balance from using skills, but every mid lane needs a way to give a quick use of harass so its not just auto attack until you go all in. So I feel playing this champion could be fun for that big strong burst and it would be hard to balance that burst.

Imagine him rushing a DFG so he would at least be level 6. Uses ult and catches one enemy and himself inside. Activates his aoe effect causing silence on an enemy caster that can't leave the Grav field. So the target is slowed silenced takes extra magic damage thats 2 skills used. Then depending on if the passive counts on the third ability or after every 3 abilities use his blinding attack or chain. Whomever he targets will die or be completely useless for the duration of the gravity's power aoe and then the blindenss. Meanwhile none of his teammmates know any information and your teammates are free to jump in to help or just travel together in the sphere until you reach your next target.

Does baron target his ult? The cooldowns for the ult are kind of low if there is no time limit for how long the ult can be on.

I mean the concept sounds like it could be cool. I'm not quite sure how the chains work with even more targets(Neutral sounds like it could target a turret or jungle monster) Obviously you have designed the W and E skill to synergize and they sound like two great skills. I think the Q would need a rework(I love that it does blindness since so few skills do) but I would like the Q to be a rapid use move. Maybe make his passive work as the third time the specific move was used it would give its super powered version. So like Corki's ult but for each skill.

The ult just sounds too powerful. Pick maybe one aspect of it that stays it has to be destroyed or cancelled(Give it a timer), People can't leave(if entered has to leave on the other side or after one second can leave on the side entered), or blocks all vision.

I hope any of these are helpful because it does sound like a really cool champion idea.
