**- Cole, the Bandle City Beetleback -

  • And His Trusted Beetle Mount, Atlas -**

- Aesthetics -

Cole's Appearance: Cole is a pretty typical yordle, with somewhat dirty grey fur. He wears a pair of shorts and hiking boots, and a honeycomb-shaped necklace. On his head he wears a wooden dome-shaped helmet painted to look like a beetle shell.

Atlas's Appearance: Primarily akin to a Japanese rhinoceros beetle, but with a pair of folded wings on its back.

- Skins -

Runeguard Cole: Cole wears a small suit of armor, similar in aesthetics to Volibear's Runeguard skin. Atlas is also armor-plated in the same style, and his horn has a glowing steel tip.

Shurima Cole: Cole wearing desert nomad-ish attire, and Atlas takes on the appearance of a golden scarab beetle. His W becomes a ring of hieroglyphs that fires out locusts when attacked.

Foreman Cole: Cole wears a cap with the Bandle City insignia on it and a pair of overalls, looking like a warehouse worker. Atlas takes on a more mechanical appearance, with his horn becoming two adjacent prongs like a forklift. In this skin, Atlas flies using jet boosters rather than wings.

- Lore -

There isn't much to be said about Cole's early years. He was as typical as a yordle boy could be, playing with his friends and enjoying the social interactions essential to yordles. His best friend, however, was his bet beetle Atlas. Cole's father had found a particularly fine long-horned beetle once on an expedition into the woods around Bandle City, and decided to bring it home with him as a gift for his son. Together, the two of them decided to name it Atlas, and it was with this gift that Cole found himself fascinated by insects.

Cole would spend his days studying the various types of insects found in the outer reaches of the forest, and teaching his friends and some curious onlookers about what he'd learned. He always kept Atlas close by, in a special backpack he had designed containing a small beetle habitat. Cole had even managed to find several more beetles of the same species as Atlas, and was actually surprised to discover that Atlas was rather small compared to most of them...

One day, however, as Cole was collecting berries for his mother, he spotted a strange winged creature eyeing him from a tree branch. As he looked up at it curiously, it suddenly swooped down and into his backpack, snatching Atlas and darting off into the deeper parts of the woods. Try as he might, Cole couldn't catch up to the creature, and soon fell to his knees, distraught by the kidnapping of who he considered to be his best friend.

In the following months, Cole managed to cheer himself up slowly but surely. He knew that, like Atlas's tough shell could weather any attack and his horn could defeat any enemy, that he had to not let this tragedy defeat him. He continued his insect studies, exploring steadily deeper regions of the forest as he did.

Then, one innocuous day almost a year after the kidnapping, Cole's routine foray into the woods was interrupted by a loud bang, and a small tree falling over in a clearing just ahead. He ran ahead and glanced out into clearing, keeping himself just out of view in case it was some sort of monster, but was surprised to see a truly enormous horned beetle eating the nectar off the tree it had knocked over. Cole had never dreamed of seeing a beetle this size before... It was so big that he could easily climb onto its back and ride it.

Upon closer glance, however, Cole noticed a red stripe on its horn. Of all the horned beetles he had seen in his travels, Cole had only ever seen one with that sort of stripe. The beetle before him was none other than his once-lost friend Atlas. Cole walked out into the clearing and approached him with anticipation. When he got close, Atlas glanced over at him, and Cole could feel it in his heart that the two of them were just as connected as ever. He hopped up onto Atlas's back, and the two of them rode back into Bandle City together.

The other yordles were amazed when they saw Cole ride into town on a beetle. As he told them about how it was his lost friend Atlas, it became clear that the creature who had kidnapped him that year ago was a fairy from the Glade. It was presumably the fairy magic therein that had caused Atlas to reach his titanic size and strength. The details didn't bother Cole too much, though. He was just happy to be reunited with his friend.

One of Cole's yordle friends suggested to him that he hone Atlas's strength, and that maybe together they could represent Bandle City in the Institute of War, and the League of Legends. Cole laughed and glanced up at Atlas.

"Well, buddy, what do you think?"

Atlas reared his head triumphantly, flipping Cole into the air and up onto his back. And the two of them rode off into the woods, determined to show the world what their teamwork could do.

- Gameplay -

Primary Role: Tank Secondary Role: Fighter

Health: 438 (+91) [2076] Health Regen: 7.4 (+0.65) [19.1] Mana: 245 (+49) [1030] Mana Regen: 6.4 (0.7) [19] Range: 150 Attack Damage: 55 (+3.5) [118] Attack Speed: 0.644 (+2.13%) [+0.877] Armor: 23 (+3.5) [86] Magic Resistance: 30 (+1.25) [52.5] Movement Speed: 340

Passive: Regenerative Exoskeleton Cole's beetle mount Atlas has a durable exoskeleton, protecting them from damage. This manifests as a shield equal to 5% of Cole's maximum Health. When out of combat for 3 seconds, this shield will repair itself at a rate of 20% per second.

While the shield persists, Cole's basic attacks deal bonus physical damage equal to 2% of his maximum Health.

Q: Herculean Toss || Range: 600 || Cost: 55 Mana || Cooldown: 12 / 11.5 / 11 / 10.5 / 10

Atlas lunges forward and flings the first enemy he hits 300 units behind Cole using his horn, dealing physical damage and stunning it for a scaling duration.

Physical Damage: 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 (+10% of Cole's Bonus Health) Stun Duration: 0.5 / 0.75 / 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 Seconds

W: Beehive Barrier || Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 Mana || Cooldown: 16

Cole surrounds himself with a barrier for 5 seconds, reducing incoming damage by a percentage. During this time, the barrier releases bees at nearby enemies within 400 range, prioritizing champions. The barrier releases two or three bees, alternating each second, starting with two bees upon casting the ability. The bees deal magic damage to their target based on its Maximum Health.

Damage Reduction: 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10% Bee Magic Damage: 1.8 / 2.1 / 2.4 / 2.7 / 3% (+1% per 100 AP) of Enemies' Maximum Health

E: Rending Pheromone || Range: 1000 || Cost: 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 Mana || Cooldown: 13

Cole lobs a vial of a powerful pheromone at target 150-radius location, afflicting them over a period of 3 seconds. Afflicted enemies are revealed, receive magic damage per second, and take 3% increased damage from all sources.

Projectile Speed: 1400 Magic Damage per Second: 15 / 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 (+10% AP) Total Magic Damage: 45 / 75 / 105 / 135 / 165 (+30% AP)

R: Titanic Impact || Cost: 100 Mana || Cooldown: 120

Atlas spreads his wings and begins to fly. While airborne, Cole's base movement speed becomes 425 and he gains 50% bonus Tenacity.

After a certain time or if the ability is activated again, Atlas comes crashing down, dealing heavy physical damage to enemies within 350 range and slowing them by a percentage for 2.5 seconds. Enemies within 100 range of Atlas' landing point are also knocked away from him slightly.

While Atlas is airborne, Cole is able to activate Beehive Barrier or Rending Pheromone as normal, but cannot use Herculean Toss or basic attacks.

Airborne Duration: 3 / 3.5 / 4 Seconds Physical Damage: 250 / 300 / 350 (+70% AP) Slow: 60 / 70 / 80%

Any effects that would modify Cole's movement speed while airborne use 425 as Cole's base movement speed instead of 340. For example, with out-of-combat Boots of Mobility, Cole's airborne movement speed would be 530.

- Animations / Visuals -

- Movement - Atlas scuttles like a beetle.

- Basic Attack - Atlas jabs forward with his horn.

- Critical Strike - Atlas tilts his head slightly and does a sort of diagonal slash with his horn.

- Recall / Teleport - Cole stands on top of Atlas's head, scouting his surroundings. When about to exit, he slides down the horn and Atlas nudges his head up, flipping Cole back into his seat.

- Joke - Cole pulls out a beehive and pokes it, at which point a swarm of bees come out and start attacking him. He jumps off of Atlas' back and starts running around frantically in circles until issued another command.

- Dance - ???

- Regenerative Exoskeleton - Atlas' exoskeleton has a sleek, black sheen while shielded. While the shield is broken, his back becomes a spotted shade of dark yellow.

- Herculean Toss - Atlas lunges forward. If/when he reaches an enemy, he lowers his head, then snaps it up into the air sharply to fling the enemy.

- Beehive Barrier - While active, Cole and Atlas are surrounded by a ring of honeycombs. The hornets that are released when attacked fly at their targets akin to Swain's ravens and will buzz around the target's head while the Armor/MR debuff is in effect.

- Rending Pheromone - When the vial strikes the ground, it leaves a pale pinkish mist within the targeted area briefly. Afflicted enemies are marked by a small similarly-colored heart icon.

- Titanic Impact - Cole climbs up closer to Atlas' head so the wings have room to unfold. Atlas then beats his wings and hovers off the ground slightly. When it times out or is activated again, Atlas lands back down on the ground, creating a visual of cracked earth for a moment within the impact zone.

Been working on this one for some time now. I hear yordle junglers are in demand or something.

I have no idea what his dance should be, even after having worked on him all this time. It's the only thing I really regret.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Also, what does that ward symbol mean? I see one on the forum next to this thread, and a few others.

Kind of like a Quinn that decided what role they want to be. I like it.

Would love to see something like this made as a Champion. It's kind of hitting two birds with one stone; we get another Yourdle and another "monster" character. Plus, the kit itself seems pretty cool.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. The dance was weird to figure out because, well, he's a mounted champ. Sejuani's dance doesn't consist of much. That dancing car bit seems pretty entertaining, though.

Name and Title: You're name choosings will probably resulting in a lot of trouble. Cole Atlas is a musician and William Atlas Cole is an actor.

Honestly, I know neither of them, but I wouldn't risk anything. Still I'm well aware that Cole is a common name and Atlas is possibly driven from the greek mythology. The fact of having a common name creates another problem: lacking distinctiveness. Most of the champion have names that have the uniqueness of being recognized as a champion from League of Legends. However some names are lacking impact and even other things come into the mind when you just say the name. Especially Nami, Nautilus, Quinn, Diana, Elise, Viktor and Talon fall under this category. In conjunction with LoL it is easy to know what I mean but especially people who are new to LoL will see certain similarities.

Lore: Content: You mentioned that the beetle in the forest was eating leaves. However rhinoceros beetles feed on nectar, plant sap and fruits.

As we know from fossils larger insect need a larger concentration of oxygen to exist as their bodies doesn't have oxygen-carrying molecules. Surely we could say "Fantasy!" or "Magic!" to let it work. Just noticing.

Stats:

Closest base Attack Speed would be 0.644 as they have a formula of 0.625 / (1 + [a value between -0.1 and +0.08 with intervals of 0.01]). 0.644 with an increase of 2.13% per level would result in 0.877 Attack speed at level 18.

Rest seems fine at first glance.

If i'm reading W right then in a 1v1 battle with no other units nearby, cole's W would deal 36%(+12% per 100 AP) of the target's maximum health over 5 seconds. Meaning if he built mostly AP and some HP he could shred a single target's hp down to nearly nothing, as 500 ap translates to his W shredding 96% of their max hp total. OR, if i read it wrong and it launches 6 waves of bees instead of 5, then 500 AP would shred over 100% of their hp over 5 seconds in a 1v1, again with no other enemy units nearby, and reducing damage taken by 10% during the duration.

But who am i to judge hp shred abilities, I play Kog'Maw jungle and build frozen mallet regularly.
