Even when the best team in the league plays against the worst team in the league.

they go for the fucking top meta picks instead of being crowd pleasers for 1 game. I mean come the fuck on. I hate pro players. Why can't I see the dark side of the moon. more like in this case the dark 75% of the moon of the rest of the roster played in pro play? i know why but riot please fix this.

I mean Phoenix1 Picked rengar. and they played him as an assassin. hell fuck the crowd and even the announcers said it was one of the most fun games they have ever watched for obvious fucking reasons., the pick worked. and P1 is one of the worst team in the league compared to TSM.

you know it isn't even about riot its really about the mentality of the pro players. I don't feel like am watching a sport when I don't see anything different from team to team and player to player everything is the same

Rengar was more of a "ehh, we probably gonna lose anyway might as well pick my main and maybe catch em off guard" pick. NonMeta pick are almost always thrownout against stronger teams, in last ditch effort. Not really any reasons for dominant teams not to pick the best meta picks, consider they practice with them.

You must be new to watching games between pro leagues, or you only watch LCS matches.

For example, LGD plays champions that they want to play, laneswap how/when they want to(they don't play the traditional EU laneswap style like other teams do). Also, the laneswap is a perfectly viable strategy, with many variants to it. 10-20 minutes of standard laning and farming is far more boring to me.

Players try to find what works best in each patch, just based on strength of changes, what's consistent or reliable, etc. Most of the time tho (IMO anyways) every champion is pretty viable unless Riot has completely gutted it cuz they don't wanna see it anymore. These players plan specific strats against other teams tho, and can build very detailed comps unlike solo queue, so I don't see why everything can't be viable.

As far as Rengar tho, when it comes to invisible assassins the game really does change. You have to be aware and every bush could be death, pinks have to litter the map. TSM was caught off by it, and haven't practiced against it cuz I never see it online, but they're pro players and should be able to flip a switch based on how they need to play the game. (Which DL said they shoulda done after the game)

Off meta picks weren't the reason TSM lost. They lost game three to Rek Sai, who is about as meta as it gets. Also, winning once with an off meta pick doesn't mean one can win consistently with it. And in fact, the guy that picked it said he wasn't going to pick it in game three because he felt TSM would adjust between games.
