They have raised the bar for the NA LCS, and as someone who wants the idea of NA winning worlds to be more than a condescending meme, I thank them for that.

Evil Geniuses(an American team at that) won Worlds(Grand International) for DotA 2 in 2015. But at least you tried. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Didn't see a /s or sarcasm in this comment, so I'm going to guess there's some ignorance, laziness, and/or possibly an insulated fanboi mentality(similar to how WWE in the past refused to acknowledge other wrestling promotions) tied in here. But that's okay, we'll fix that.

DotA 2, is a successor to DotA(a venerable MOBA), just like LoL, and is part of the e-sports scene. Also has a pretty big World Championship(The DotA 2 International).

Usually games with strong Console followings. Counter Strike doesn't have a recent console release, so NA doesn't really care. This would mean games like Halo.

Those guys have a shit ton more practice to do, the Koreans are clearly on a completely different level.

Maybe its the NA's solo play mentality. Probably is.

I think it's more the fact that NA made it this far at all. I haven't been following the competitive scene for long at all, but from what I've been seeing, people are hyped that CLG managed to make it to the finals, apparently that's kinda unheard of for a North American team. I'd say that itself is something to be acknowledged, even if we did lose in the end, we still made it that far.

Might want to fact check that. I'm sorry but that was the semi-final game. The finals were EDG beating SKT 3-2.

Making it somewhere that no one in your region has made it to before is by definition raising the bar. The only thing left to do now is have a NA team win an international tourney.

2015 IEM Katowice was won by TSM. Counts as an international tourney. But at least you tried. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

More like a pro wrestler winning a world championship in a different promotion than WWE, such as for NWA, TNA, IWGP, or ROH. Might not be WWE, but is still a world championship.

Just as IEM Katowice is an international tourney, that many teams from around the world, participated in. Was it Riot sanctioned? No. Is it still a valid championship in esports, with a monetary prize and trophy at the end? Yep. I'm not the one who backtracked. You asked for an international tourney won by NA, one was delivered.

stomped? im guesing you watched something else entirely in 2 of the games if clg would have capitalized on their moments better they had almost free wins even the commentators were stunned. skt earned their wins but not cheaply

I will lose faith in the effectiveness fo skills in competetive plays if CLG wins final. because Huhi is definitely the worst midlaner out of all the teams in MSI(Perkz sucked too but hey the entire G2 fucked up who even count them in), he is a waveclear/shied/disengage bot, with him being a huge weakness in the CLG line up I have no faith in CLG winning final.

Cheer for them since they became even more of a trash talking team without Doublelift? Let's be honest here, CLG as an organization embodies poor sportsmanship; Yes, they are good players, but if you ever listen to Aphromoo talk about TSM, Chauster in any interview, or HotshotGG talk, you would know Doubelift simply was following the entire organization's lead on being complete a-holes. There is nothing to respect about CLG and the trash they spew.

CLG might be a good team, but the organization has been trash talking and has embodied poor sportsmanship for far too long. There is a reason they are the only top team that got hit for poaching and inappropriate actions while in Korea. They might play well, but there is nothing impressive about having a history of being punished for breaking rules and then trash talking.

Before the finals I was even thinking, even if we lose 0-3 vs SKT, this MSI is something we NA fans can walk away from with good spirits. We made it to the finals, that's good in itself. And earlier on we (along with a few other teams) managed to take a win away from SKT.

If we won, then it'd be amazing.

If we went 2-3, then we'd have come close to beating SKT.

If we went 1-3, we'd still have given them a fight.

If we went 0-3, that's still fine, sure we didn't manage to win any of the Bo5, but we made it that far, and that's something we can be proud of I think.

I haven't been into the competitive scene for very long, but this is the vibe I'm getting from NA fans in general right now.

Agree with OP. Thank you CLG for changing MSI meta and playing for NA. Feeling a lot of pride in you guys right now (though I cheered for Immortals in the spring split >_>)
