It's called flavor of the month, nothing new.
Well to be fair, pro players are going to pick the best champs.
Sometimes the word best just means synergizes well with a certain comp they are going for.
But champs that have a lot in their kit with low downfall, and champs that have strong itemization at the moment are going to be picked by the top players because why put yourself at a disadvantage?
It's only natural for the league community to look at what pro players are contesting for the best picks in the current meta.
It's a good guideline for some of us average players.
But not entirely. Because soloQ differs so much from team play, especially pro team play, and because certain champs & strats are just better at certain levels of competition, it's not entirely accurate.
However, league is much more focused around teamplay than in the past, so there's that to consider.
I think the best thing for me (I've never been higher than Plat 1) is just finding a champ I'm naturally decent at, and sticking with it.
